    Hi guys,

My TT has recently developed a bad stutter, both on idle, and acceleration.
At first I thought it was the Series 1 PTU was going bad, so we swapped it for a series 2, and it kept doing it.

Here are a couple of videos showing what its doing.

    Tachometer:

Any help as to what it may be would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Logan.

I would tend towards a ignition problem. Maybe coils or plugs.

Swapping plugs tomorrow. If that doesn't help, I'll swap some coils. I have a fair few spare ones laying around (providing N/A and TT are the same?)

    Same enough :p

Check you crank angle sensor connector. The way the tacho is jumping suggest that it is the problem

    agreed...

do preventative maintenance first before spending of costly parts..
(clean all connectors and check that are seated correctly with the clips)

the FSM has guides on checking components as well..

    Ok,
So list of things done now:

    -s2 PTU installed
    -New spark plugs (standard BKR6E)
    -Checked coil pack connectors.

About to check the CAS plug, and possibly swap the CAS over

I changed the CAS over, it is still doing it.
The plugged looked buggered, so I'm going to try and track down a new plug and solder that on.

Let us know. It certainly sounds like the plug.

Nope, just swapped the plugs, and its still doing it -_-

    Going to swap coilpacks tomorrow.

    This is driving me crazy.
    Stupid f'ing datusns.

Have you done any diagnostic checks prior to changing out parts?

Like, error codes on the ECU?
I haven't. I'm trying to find a laptop with a serial connection so i can plug into my ecu

More like any type of test?
ECU error codes are a good place to start, however there are components that could cause drivability issues that won't be logged in the ECU.
Guessing what could be an issue & changing out parts can work out to be expensive in the long run.

like I said before you need to check and clean all connectors (all connectors).

including MAF and the one to the ecu...

    read this:

Yep I have the day off tomorrow, so going to check all connectors.

No MAF sensor due to aftermarket ECU.

Whoops, i thought i mentioned it. Turns out i only mentioned it on the fb page.

    Wolf v400, plug n play.

Hahaha it's your car rejecting your ecu.

Plug in a stock ecu and see if it still does it.
Or see if the lights on the wolf flick off when it has the big miss

I don't have a stock ECU laying around.
I'll check the lights on the ECU tomorrow!
