Im currently shaving my plenum and have deleted four bracket mounts and two earth wire mounts. Whats the go with the Balance tube re-route... [/IMG]
Ill be tapping in some aeroflow fittings or similar, braided hose between them, a t piece for the iacv and a vacuum tree. Gonna try get it all under plenum if possible, but we will see closer to when it happens.
Install a smaller battery and that bay would be almost perfect. Silly relocating the fuse box and PTU to that location seeing how they aren't in an easily accessible spot any more.
Amongst the dual intake and the tubing it would be awkward having to get to them I would have thought, though I guess you don't need to access it very often so it's a non issue. Has anyone seen it relocated to the battery area?
No, because that would require a rewire. People put it behind the front bar because it more or less simply be unbolted and bolted down there. There's only so much length to play with on the factory harness. Taking off an air filter or a vacuum line has never been much of a concern to the average DIYer...
Which to me seems impractical. I would have thought you would want to make things more accessible and in the cases where you want to take the path of looks over practicality, then at least try and make it as easy as possible to access if you have to put it there (ie; not having to removed other parts to access it). But as I said, once up and running, how often would you need to access the fuse box or PTU? Not often I would assume so I guess it doesn't matter where you put it.
my criticism of the last pic would be the lack of airflow over teh radiator. maybe they can get away with that in Canada but not sunny QLD
Of course it's more impractical. When you decide to tuck the fuse box you accept that you're losing practicality. Even my location, next to the ECU, is more troublesome to reach than under the bonnet. I consider the accessibility there to be pretty good, too. My major criticism is the air flow as well. Could be better thought out.
More on this car. Another bloody yank that does an amazing job tucking and smoothing then leaves hoses about the place.
