So i've decided to start a thread that will probably be updated pretty slowly but I thought it would be a good place to log my project.

So here's what it's at currently

Model 1993 J Spec 2+0 Slicktop TT Manual TK3(currently painted in 2k yellow)

I bought it as a rolling shell came with full interior and exterior it was repainted to the 99 yellow colour but I plan on taking it back to either TK3 or Gunmetal Grey of some sort, I plan to do a full overhaul of wiring looms/connectors refresh the interior it looks a bit tired on the inside, thankfully the exterior and rubbers are all fresh and dark still (no sun fading) the plans for exterior are as follows

-2k Front bumper - Got this.
-Garage Impul Side skirts - Got this.
-Ab Flug Power Superior Exhaust - Got this.
-Fog light ducts - Got this.
    -Twinz bolt on diffuser.
    -Twinz type 1 front splitter.
-undecided on the spoiler so far will take recommendations!(leaning towards the 93 TT spoiler).
    -Some sort of roof spoiler.
    -2k tail lights-got this.

    Interior
    -Recaros - got this.
-New Dash in immaculate condition- should have one next week.
-Altia door trim/illuminated side step things lol.
-Re-trim the interior in a white leather.
    -2 pod gauge pillar.
-Maybe some door pods for 6.5" speakers
    -2k steering wheel.
-Considering cutting down my 2+2 altia 1/4 windows to fit 2+0

    Other things to come:
    Complete brand new lockset
    1 pc driveshaft
    98 manual transmission
    VG30DETT (obviously) :p
    New slicktop roof/windshield strips
    New windscreen (current is cracked)
    Z1 short shifter
    complete wire tuck/engine bay smoothing
More info on an engine build :p

Would love some recommendations on paths to take on reasonable builds for engines/power supporting mods!

(will post some pics of what its at currently soon)

So yesterday I pulled the dash so i can get to the EFI loom and to make it easier to pull out the engine room loom and I began tidying up some of the wires that had been hacked at underneath the dash.

Also here's some pics of recent and not so recent.
sorry the quality isn't so great my camera sucks :p

Hope it all goes well, for you without too many nightmares and busted knuckles.

As for the paint i'd leave it in the 2k yellow, maybe a few more coats of clear. The reason the white leather interior your wanting to put in will suit better in the yellow than the grey but if you do go back too the blue i'd go an off white almost cream colour.

What are you plans for the engine ie: plenum, pipes, rockers, etc powder coated or painted, seeing as your wire tucking may as well do up the motor and make it all nice and purty like.

Thanks mate, although I can imagine there'll be plenty of swearing a busted knuckles to come! In terms of paint colour I chop and change my mind all the time so I'm leaving that door open for now!

As for the engine i've been looking around for inspiration and so far I've liked the idea of a polished/chrome look but as I said previously my mind can never settle for a definite thing :p first world problems..

Today I began pulling out all the AC and heater box crap so I could pull the EFI harness out which should be done by the end of the day and also thinking about getting a new heater core and what not while it's out because it's not a task id like to do over and over again but because I know how lazy I can be i'm taking a two step forward one step back approach so I don't leave myself with a daunting project to come back to i'll also be pulling up the carpet and cleaning out all the previous owner muck and dust just because I wont be satisfied in my mind if i don't...

Also out of curiosity for anyone who's done it before what's the best way to remove the ignition lock cylinder from the steering arm.

So got the new EFI loom, in these pics you can see the comparison between a new USDM loom (mine) vs a new JDM loom(not mine) it's pretty spot on, in most cases the USDM loom has an extra cm or 2 on most connectors and the evident length near the ecu connector
USDM on top JDM on bottom

Also discovered yesterday while I was fiddling around under the dash that my 300zx originally was an airbag model I was so confused for a while what all these yellow wires were well now I know.

Pretty sure all 1993 onwards models jdm and euro, american were air bagged . Maybe even aus models as well.

    Anti 14.7 x 14.7 = 44.1

Put an air bag back on it man, good to have.

Make sure you get the right airbag too, the american one doesn't work on the jdm/aus models, different clock spring ask CARZ aka Toby , he went through that lil problem.

I will be for sure, I actually prefer the look of the airbag wheel compared to the other one, and not to mention mum was thrilled when she found out it was prepared for the airbag lol.

Thank you for the tip i'll be sure to get one off an aus spec or jap, also handy to note down for future reference.

You'll have a job on your hands trying to get one in good nick that hasn't " popped ", i do believe other nissan steering wheels do fit possibly a 350z airbag one, someone on here could confirm that better than me.

So today I was out doing some stuff in the beautiful weather, pulled out the engine room harness and wrote a little note to myself....NEVER DO THIS AGAIN, and the best part is I still have to put a new one in...All was going well until I had the joy of disconnecting the connectors on the drivers side.. oh joy, props to anyone who has pulled it out within an hour. because it took me multiple drinks and plenty of swear words.

Mate anybody who says they can remove an engine harness in an hour's pulling your leg.

Did removing the dash help with the engine room harness, or do you think it could be removed with just as much swear words leaving the dash in ? I know it connects on both side near the kick panels. Still waiting on mine before removing 25 year old one thats sitting in my Z.

I would definitely take the dashboard out you really need as much space as you can get, but don't get me wrong there'll still be plenty of swear words but id recommend doing other maintenance while the dash is off so hopefully you wont need to pull the dash again for at least 10 years :p

I actually took out all my A/C and Heater boxes etc as well and ripped out my carpet to clean up little things that were bothering my OCD

but as I said earlier the passenger side is much easier than the drivers. the drivers side requires some "patience" :bash:

Hahaha Z32's and swear word go hand in hand when the time comes to replace pretty much anything .
