Being a 97 ECU, stock timing should be 10 degrees at idle in neutral with an additional 5 / 10 degrees if put into gear (if it was still an auto). I am not sure how the manual conversion works, but ignition timing probably has to be adjusted to compensate for the different setup.

Being a recent new motor/rebuild too, I guess it may need some time to break it in.

Thanks guys, I'd say it's a tune issue too.

Gave it a wash today too, after months of sitting there, god the colour is amazing, almost forgotten after this long...

Going in for the exhaust the week after next, that'll get the ball rolling again! More pictures soon I promise, threads been kinda dull recently so I'll make sure to fix that!

The ECU thing I mentioned wasn't actually in relation to Deans issue....I was just asking.

    VS Evo

Got around to borrowing my mates trailer and loading to zed up to take it to Havoc Fabrication in Keysbourgh for him to hang up the VS and do some custom fab.

All loaded up. The bonnet really grew on me, absolutely love it.

Still all packaged up from when it arrived from Japan via Streeter.

This is the only photo I have at the moment of the work he did, fantastic welding, can't fault his workmanship at all.

All hung up. Will be going back in the future to get it tucked up, it sits too low for my liking at the moment.

Asides from that, I've been working on my fuel system. Going to be welding up my stock rails and adding -AN fittings to it to make it all neat and tidy. Once the fuel setup is complete, I'll be ordering a Haltech Pro 2000 for Trent to work his magic on. Mainly wanted to go a stand alone ECU for its programability, MAP sensor and to simplify my setup. Will be running my boost control system through the Haltech too, so the ECU should have total knowledge of what's going on.

    Currently sitting like this...

    Progress come at me.

I see what you mean by hanging to low those mufflers could come up a few inches from the rear pic by looks of it.

Overall really nice work . Slow progression but your doing it right by the looks of it!!

Good idea about the fuel rails,, sounds similar to something I did ;p haha .

Ecu sounds a brilliant choice also.
What injectors did you end up with?

P.S. Surprised you left the intercooler on getting it onto the trailer =O

+1 for Abe at Havoc fabrication, that man's welds are like art.

did Trent recommend the Haltech? Trent tuned a link G4 in my friend's 32 GTR with good results too.

What did you do with your rails? Can you post some photos here please?

I've currently got Nismo 740's, they'll be plenty for the 98 that I'll be tuned on.

Supprisingly the cooler didn't hit getting on the trailer, the car is at max height atm though, dunno what's gonna happen when I slam it again...

He's fantastic at what he does, his prices are damn good too, zero complaints and only good things to say, not often you find a workshop like that.

Trent approved of my decision to go Haltech, he said he prefers to tune them over the Vipec, and let's be serious, I won't know the difference between the two once everythings said and done. Also been recommended to me by a few friends who've been where I am, so happy to take it on board.

ATI Harmonic Balancer & Fuel Rail Beginnings

Swapped out the UR balancer I had on the engine for an ATI one I picked up a while back. Mainly because the UR ones don't stop any harmonics as they should. While I had the front end off I investigated a loud knocking sound I had developed. Luckily for me I got to it before it did any damage, ending up being some loose bolts holding the Tomei cam gears in place...Double and triple check them if you're installing them!

    Quick comparison.

All swapped and happy with how it went.

All that's left before the run in tune is to finish off my fuel system and order the haltech. Cheeky teaser of the modification I'm doing to my rails. This is only a test piece.

Liking the gloss white pipes Dean, nice colour combo for the bay. Great work getting the evo fitted up too, you'll love it.

Bonnet looks terrible though, sell it to Tim...

Wil take a look at my 2+2. Sure the evo system sits higher on it. Why didn't you opt for some s/s hi-flow cats?

^ actually can see how my evo sat in my sig (which needs updating now!), looks similar Dean.

Can't wait to have everything powdercoated, but more keen to clean up some of this wiring, it's a nightmare.

Not sure, going to get it tucked up at a later stage. The cats came with a zed I wreaked a year ago, was told they are some high flow Magnaflow gear, who knows. If I have issues with them I'll just pull em off and change em, no biggie.

What the hell is the weird crimped up U thingy for your fuel system?!
You have 3 weeks to make it to zedfest lol

So, after changing my mind heaps about my fuel setup, I've decided on how I want it done. Started playing around with a stock fuel rail I had lying around, but decided it was too much hassle for me to do it properly the way I wanted.

In light of this, I pulled my s2 rail out yesterday, and today its being sent off to ezzupturbo for it to be bored out and -8an fittings welded onto it.

In other news, I pulled my rear bar off to install my twinz diffuser. Cooolllll.

    PartsN'Plans

Plenty to update, sorta close to finishing, but as always, plans change...

Originally I planned on using NIStune for my engine management, however after thinking about it logically, a Haltech Platinum Pro was the way to go for me for a few reasons.

    - No need for a Selin kit + I can run my intakes under the headlights, utilizing the MAP sensor built in to the Haltech.
    - No need for an EBC, the Haltech can manage my boost levels and adjust according to the situation.
    - No need for a NIStune board, as the Haltech is completely stand alone.
    - Can run a Flex tune, meaning E85 isn't such a big deal to run.

After I sold my Selin, my eBoost2 and my NIStune'd ECU, there wasn't much more for me to throw on top to make up the difference for the Haltech. Luckily for me, Jamie (Chilledpain) was selling his unused Haltech with a Fuel flex setup, so I jumped on it.

I also grabbed a E85 compatible fuel filter with -10AN fittings, which I'll be anodizing black.

And a set of real Titanium wheel nuts, which I got to replace my generic chrome ones that I've been wanting to get rid of for a while now.

While I was on my spending spree, I decided to email PerfectRun to see if they had any Ganador mirrors left in stock. After Rob's group buy fell through with Ganador themselves, as they were out of stock, the mirrors became significantly harder to get your hands on. Lucky for me, PerfectRun had a few left in stock.

Which I promptly made sure to drop, straight on to the garage floor. No damage, except a small chip which you can see in the last photo...

A week or two went by, and I was talking with the eventual tuner of the car, Trent from Chequered Tuning, who always makes time to give some much needed advice whenever anyone asks for it. We were talking about injector options, now that E85 was a serious choice for me, and we decided that of the available standard side feed options, there just wasn't much choice when it came to high flowing, non redrilled items.

Cue Rob again, who brought in a few BDE Top Feed rails from BDE themselves. I ended up with their Top Feed rails, solid half moon seals and their new light weight alternator mounting bracket...

Around the same time that all the BDE gear landed in Robs hands, so did the Nismo Bushes from the group buy. He packaged it all up, and sent it my way.
