Thanks for the suggestion, but I have been following that thread but it has not helped me get to the bottom of the problem. Will swap over fuel reg and get my wife to try it out.

Surprised that noone has a suggestion about this. If it's not FPR, what about yer injectors?

Changed the FPR back over to stock last night and Kristy took it for a spin today. The fuel smell is gone!! Dam FPR!

Today I got my 4th ebay Air flow meter. And no joy. Giving up on these and will have to go with a secondhand unit instead. I still dream of the day when I get this thing running right!

New adjustable rear control arrived. Hoping to somehow install these on the weekend which should take care of my tyre wearing problems.

Still haven't resolved the MAF issue, even the one I bought off Tekky isn't happy. Strangely enough, it runs best with my original MAF, with the exception of Mick's.
Did a continuity test on the wires running from MAF to ECU and no issues there. Located the bundle of earth wires near ECU crimped together from factory and added solder. No difference there. Running 3 earth wires on the battery. Car now starts as soon as it sees the key!

To get my mind off it I installed a set of nolathane sway bar bushes front and rear as well as rear sway bar link bushes. I wasn't expecting much but it made a noticeable difference to the handling. Much bigger difference than installing strut braces.

To get a better handle on this rough running issue I've ordered a AEM wideband meter.
Also planning to get my spare set of injectors cleaned this weekend and chuck them in.

Once Mick is free I'll try swapping over MAF's with his again to see if I didn't imagine the improvement last time. I will get to the bottom of this!

Running Mick's MAF and it doesn't appear to be much better.
Hooked in a new AEM wideband meter. Fuel was a little on the lean side, around 16 to 1.
bumped it up to the mid14s but the car still isn't running the best. Still has the odd stumble, bit like a slight miss-fire under low load.

I threw in a new set of spark plugs, tried swapping in another set of coils, but no difference. I'm thinking it might be the CAS again.

Project has come to an end but going on to a good home where it will hopefully come to a conclusion. The next test will be to see how long I can last without a zed.

Last update. Before it goes in the morning I decided to take a look at the ignition barrel. When you're driving, the car has a habbit of switching all electrics off, leaving only the engine running. You have to get the key in exactly the right spot to get everything going again. I've learned to deal with it as it only tends to do it once every time I drive it.

Tonight I decided to take a quick look at it, thinking it might be the connector. Closer inspection revealed the plastic part was half coming out of the barrel. I tried to push it back in but the thing sprung out on me and I was left staring at foreign parts

My first thought was to panic but the realisation that I'm going to have to fix it one way or another had me investigating it a little closer. I noticed a little screw up at the back of the barrel. I undid it and the whole unit came out.

Having a better visual of the whole thing had me breathing a sigh of relief as it could only be assembled one way.
Once assembled it, I could see it wanted to come apart again. I quickly crimped the 3 edges of the aluminum onto the plastic portion (that has the contacts) and had a perfectly good unit again :D

Installed it back in the car and it's good as new. No matter what you do with the key, all electrics remain on. I wish I looked at this sooner

    Hey Ross,
Hope to see you in a zed again soon, will you take the soarer on the cruise?

I'm keeping my spare zed engine as I plan to slowly build that up. Hopefully next year I will be in a situation to look for another zed :zlove:

Yeah I'll be taking the soarer on the cruise. I still plan to go on every zed cruise I can :)

    Thanks Cliff.
