As some will know last week I had some very close friends leave Australia back to the land of ice and snow in Canada. I travelled down to Sydney to see them off and drove the Zed to the Airport had a good lunch and saw some off. To say the least I was a little saddened by it all :`( So I go down to the car to drive back to Newcastle and low and behold but some moron has hit the car. I suspect a Hilux or the like with a bull bar has reversed, destroying my front bar, then the corner has hit my drivers side headlight assembly destroying that :x :x So I ring the cops, they come out and say unless someone had seen it and stayed there or the person had left a note then there was really nothing they could do. I really wish I had some pictures to show just how much damage was done.So back to Newcastle I go in a bit of a state and to top off the day I get pulled over on the freeway. Not speeding though ;) The cop comes up and says 'I see you have some pretty good damage there?' (yeah thanx smart ass wonder what gave that away) to which I reply 'you wouldn't believe the day I've had man' and told him the above. He let me go without fine (broken glass and bar etc on the deal that if I got caught in te next week or whatever and he found out about it that I would pay for that one too. Finally I get home safe, mad as hell and start making some phone calls. This is where the 'family' of zeds has come through. Of course with excess being so high I'm better off paying for it out of my own pocket. So here it goes...:YD to Chili for the hard work and mateship shown. Sending me those front indicators etc. This does not go un noticed buddy and I am truly grateful to you:YD to John at UAS for the hard work and 'customership' shown to me. The bar and parts arrived at the spray shop without damage and very quickly. John knows the whole deal here so thank you very much. Again this does not go un noticed and I will be back to your shop again.:YD to the sprayers doing the work on my car. Dangar Body Works in Mayfield are a sponsor to my ice hockey team in the national league and have done everything to help me out. Greg is a legend in his own right. Got me a price of $500 to do all the work necessary which if you saw the damage is a damn good price.Looks like I'll have the car back in about a week. Dropped it off today so when it gets back I'll post some pics of the new 2000 bar. Looking forward to finally concluding this chapter of hell by what I consider to be gutless drivers with no integrity at all. Again to all those involved with this... thanx A big round of applause ^D^ ^D^ Oh yeah and Chili, Dangar is waiting for those indicators so send them as soon as you can then get me the bill to repay :p Cheers everyone

My sympathies are with you, Thorny.

It's very frustrating trying to deal with these frequent happenings in parking areas, particularly with the damage your car has suffered. I'm as angry as blazes just reading your story and it isn't even my car. Regards,   Duey.

    Feel for you dude 8(

Rough break. Any security footage in the area you parked. Airports usually have a few cameras around.Jerks like that shouldn't be driving IMHO. Parking a car should be done achingly slow, even if you know what you are doing, as the risk of inccident is that much higher.
'Spose most people just take it for granted.Cheers

Sorry to hear that Thorny >>>

What is it with tray truck/4WD drivers in NSW and their inability to reverse? It sounds so similar to my damage at Canowindra last year, except the tray rails went over the brand new(!) front bar and headlight and killed the bonnet and guard. Like you, I self-funded the repair and used the opportunity to fit a UAS bonnet. But it was really annoying that the culprits do a couple of grand's damage and piss off, probably laughing at what they've done.Enjoy the new front bar even if the circumstances are RS.

    Bill:?) What bill:?)>>>:D

Have you contacted the Parking Area Manager at the Airport:?)
I would be very surprised if the parking area at an International Airport was not under constant camera surveillance, in these times of heightened risk.
    Could be worth a try.:YD
