Anyone with a conZult who could help me out tomorrow with the troubleshooting?

Already tightened and fixed the CAS in place. Still doesn't wanna fire. :(

What's the best way to check if all the grounding points are okay? The poor grounding was the main cause of the shortcircuiting after all.

And with the dash instrument lights staying on even with the keys already off, would that be suggestive of an already RIP PTU?

Think I've sorted the problem out! Basing on the manual, I did the continuity test. Resistance evident between male pin G and any of the rest of the same pin group (a,b,c,d,e,f)... that's with the negative on G. Shows that there's no continuity on the circuit.

Time for a new series 2 PTU?!

BIG THANKS to Mitch for a 2-hour drive (again!) from Newcastle to my place to lend a hand. A productive day of eliminating possible causes of the issue of the engine cranking but not firing.

This piece is going and wires will be soldered straight together:

I already got a big help from the guy, and I still ended up the one receiving a very "polite" pair of ninja gloves from him (thanks dude!):

Also replaced the plugs with NGK ones for tuning, but still didn't solve the problem:

Alternator is scheduled to be replaced tomorrow. Big thanks also to Ron (Wizard) for lending his alt for troubleshooting. Will return it in one piece, mister. Just not sure if it would still be functional... :p

Looks like it's one thing after the other for both of us aye Arv?

We're both so close.... you can almost taste it!
My time estimate is about another 2-3 weeks before mine is 100%, with exhaust sorted & dyno tuned & ready to go.

Don't forget - big cruise when we're ready!

Let me know if you need anything

One thing I've learned about my z is there is no such thing as 100% done...there is always something to do!

Sorry for the very much late update, guys! Been so flat out securing my family's future... :p

On to the story. The replacement alternator (thanks again, Wizard!) worked a treat! My car started! :) here's a quick snap of the two alt's showing mine (right) and Ron's (left):

Was also able to trace where the burnt wire is. It happened to be the det sensor wire as I altered the original wiring being a smart arse. Here are some quick snaps of the burnt wire:

The injured wire that was connected behind the balance tube...

I followed the wire from the insertion to origin (as per anatomical terms)...

Used my six senses to hunt down the culprit...

And the last problem on the list is the "mysterious" issue of engine staying on with the ignition already off and the key out of the barrel. Swapped ECU and "wallah!"... problem solved! Probably shortcircuited the f*ckwit. Brytech to the rescue though. He's on the process of reviving it (BIG thanks to you, Bry!)...

Hope this update would be helpful as a reference for other members having to deal with the same issues like mine. She's now back to being my everyday driver. I already feel the power difference from stock hairdryers although she's just boosting up to a conservative max of 5psi whilst I save up for an upgraded set of injectors and *query* Nistune or just get my stock ECU tuned. Big difference actually as my passenger turbo was f*cked... and no more siren sound trailing me wherever I go!

Will still need to do heaps of research regarding such matter. Any suggestions or supervisions from our distinguished experts are very much welcome... :zlove:

By the way, here she is now. Test fitting my replacement front bar and bonnet:

Still recovering from a very lengthy and extensive procedure. Lots of fluids and rest... :zlove:

That hood looks a lot better on your Z than it did mine Arvs.
Mainly due to the fact that your front bar & nose panel aren't as busy looking as mine.
Looks like it lines up a lot better too.
    She's coming along very nicely.

Thanks for the kind words, Sav! Yeah, really wanting a vented bonnet for a long time specifically this design. :)

    Catch up with you soon...

    Huge congrats!!! :D :zlove:

Definitely overdue for a catch up (and letting me take her for a quick spin teehee! ;)).

When you gonna get the new injectors?

And how are you running 5 PSI? I would have thought the Actuators on Ron's old Turbos were rated at, at least 12 PSI...

Hey, miss you man! I'm planning to have a steak night one time to celebrate the success
of the turbo upgrade. Just need to fix my fluid leaks (and yeah, that's plural!)...

Haven't ordered new injectors yet. Offloading a few items first to save up for them. And yes, deliberately running on 5psi only so as not to cause any damage on the engine until I get my hands on some upgraded injectors and a tune of course.

Bleeding my brakes at the moment. How's it again? ABS first, then pass rear, drv rear, pass front and lastly drv front? Correct?!

You conned her to do it? I thought you said you had help, hahaha!. Now it makes sense why when I asked if you got someone you didn't drop their name and just said yes, lol.

What did I tell you about bleeding the brakes a while ago, gravity bleed them. I take it you sorted out your master cylinder.

Apparently there is an engine oil like somewhere near the front end of the gearbox. Either from the rear main seal (as it wasn't replaced when the engine was out) or coming from the sump gasket/seal. But it seems like the same as Anti's recently-solved issue. Will slide under the car tonight and tomorrow to diagnose.

I so enjoy working on my car... :)
