Ditch that eaton, that will be a nightmare to install, cant intercool em and those rootes blowers are the most inefficient of all blowers, ad you wont have many pulley options, sell it to someone with a v6 commodore or a v8 jaguar
Missing the point I'm fitting a supercharger because I want to, and I like things that are different. It don't matter if I succeed or not, its the challange of doing it and it gives the brain something to think about. If I wanted the easy life I would just sell the zed and drive around in the Jeep. There again I could always stick the supercharger on the Jeep A supercharged 4.7L V8 Jeep
i say hoooorah to sillen.. In a few months i will be looking forward to seeing pictures and reading stories of how it was done. Good on ya. To everyone else, yr a bunch of nay sayers
Nothing wrong with a supercharger...but I think the eaton is possibly the wrong type to use. The Vortech (spelling?!) superchargers are good and would be easier to fit to the zed IMO. That aside, the idea has merits definately, no-one has a supercharged zed round here. I'm very much a fan of different...except when different starts to nudge with weird. That I don't like.
missing my point My point is supercharge away, but you are trying to put a square in a round hole, and all this for an inferior set up, you wont be able to run any sort of charge cooling unless you cut the manifolds and fabricate an intergrated chargecooler/intake manifold with a seperate radiator and electric pump, also as i said before the rootes type blowers are most inefficient, grab a vortech,(centrifugal type)they are far more suited to this application and will return much better results
Just thought I would post these pics of working supercharged NAs from TT.net. These are obviously significantly smaller chargers mounted in the AC compressor's position. You will have to search for power figures and technical details. At a glance it seems the engine is mounted further back, maybe firewall modifications? Definitely altered the radiator setup. Im just not sure its all worth the $ or the effort IMO. If moneys not an issue and your going for something different then go for it :zlove: .
Interesting Could be a possibility in place of the Eaton. I'm looking at changing to manual steering so I should have some extra space where the power steering pump used to sit. The money is not a issue, the challange to do it is
if money is no issue.... turbo charges all round...on stillen my dream is to see if its possible to get a tt v8 in my zx sweet sweet power
no radiator shrouds or fans..... just noticed neither of those setuos have maintanied the radiator fan or shroud, cant be good for cooling particurly with forced induction on the motor...... there may be a fan in front of the radiator but still......bit risky in terms of overheating.....i would try and retain the fan at the very least.....
Not much point of having a fan shroud when there isn't a fan They would have a thermo fan or 2 on the other side.
nar no clue mate sorry... but as long as its very fined tuned you wont even need turbos ...will be a super car all on its own. it would be great to hear a fined tune v8 zed....it would be better to hear a fine tuned supercharged v8, that would be perfect i would go the v8 over the tv6 turbo charged....
Also that is not a OEM radiator Clearly a at least twin core or more and it's Alloy. Fans are not effective over about 60k's anyway, you only need them in traffic where the air speed at the front of the car is low. However they do restrict the air flow at speed and you do get better air flow running them all the time.
Get the most prefered V8 engine i.e. the mightGen 3 LS1. Even with light mods you would be in the upper end of the 300zx power scale. Swap your SC with a T1000 turbo and you would have one of the most powerful zeds.
