Hey guys and gals, I’m upgrading the ECU in my street 2+2 and going Nistune. My track/drift Z is in need of an ECU, my question is, how tuner friendly is the standard ECU? I’m in the process of getting some 750cc injectors, boost jets or might just bite the bullet and get EBC and your basic intake and exhaust mods. Can I tune the stock ecu to manage all that or am I better off buying a second Nistune board?
    Thanks a bunch

You could chip the stock ecu, but I doubt anyone does that anymore, Nistune pretty much made 'chipping' redundant.

So yes you will need minimum Nistune, or go aftermarket.

A decent stand alone ECU will negate the need for an EBC, and the need for a selin (if you are planning to exceed the 500hp single maf threshold).

    Worth considering.

Nistune is great value for money IMHO. As well as Board/software you need a wideband to integrate with Nistune to get an efficient tune , otherwise it is guesswork. There is also a bit of skill involved in understanding and maximising the benefits of the software.
I have a Nistune Workshop Software Licence and it has taken me many years of experience to achieve optimal results.

    I second this
    basic sums

    Nistune top spec $660
    selin plus maf $1000
    Ebc $300
    Fitting $?

    Link g4 $1400
    Haltech PnP $2000

The hardest part of fitting a stand alone is the AIT sensor

You want need to 750cc injectors for 98 with boost jets for 1 bar.

Although it's good to have your own on board wideband sensor and gauge to monitor, it's not a necessity as your tuner will have this anyway.
Also agree you'll get close to 500rwhp with the factory MAF sensor, without the need for a Selin kit.
For street use just add Nistune, EBC and some bigger injectors (650's will get you to 450rwhp on E85).
For track use the above will suffice (what I'm currently running) but a standalone like the Link G4 would be much better (what I'll be doing when I can afford it).
Personally I'd go standalone with map sensor over Nistune with Selin if you want over 500rwhp. Much better value and a lot more potential for tuning and logging.
