Even though techinically there might not have been any savings, Mr TT brought this kit to my attention which I previously would not have known about, so Im more than happy.

I had to take into account the Import and gst :thumbsdown:

But the order is in and people may want to just buy them off Ebay in the future .

Im an impulse shopper, I dont generally go searching for things unless I know what im looking for. There is a hell of alot of trash to dig through on a general "300zx" search on ebay anyways.

we probably do think to look on ebay, but that's not really the point here. I'm buying it because it's part of the *group* buy, hell, MrTT doesn't know it yet but he's going to help me put my bolts on It's as much as a group activity as a way to save mega-dollars.

And if you paid $76 each doesn't that mean we're all saving 1 dollar. :unsure:

Evan, remember how all this started?

The GB closed and several people expressed disappointment at missing out. Among them was R31Gagz who wants bolts to fit his Skyline.

I simply directed him to Rich in the hope that he could obtain information and to reassure him that he could still get a kit, even though he had been excluded, along with a lot of the others, from the GB.

Then I start to feel the heat because I'm percieved as undermining a GB.

If members trying to contribute are going to be flamed every time they post something others disagree with, they'll quickly lose interest in posting anything.

 

R31Gagz was never excluded ,its just that skylines were never included

in this GB
But its all over and done now ,the order has been made.
I wont run another GB for the bolt kit as its just not worth the hassle that some members like to make

Alternative GB being sorted out ...

I am in the process of sorting out a possible GB using locally sourced items. Right now I have enough bits to supply 4 complete kits of the same type of items as the US supplied GB, and can slot you in as 1 of those 4. Another kit was also promised to a WA member earlier by PM.

These will all be stainless steel 304 grade - I don't know what grade the US supplied parts were - 304 or 316. My impression is that a couple of the US supplied bits could be considered to have a slightly better finish - but not worth 3 times the price.

I will be able to sell these kits for about A$25 each + postage; haven't yet worked out what postage will be or what I would use for packing etc. I am also considering offering each item on an individual basis, and need to work out what the costs would be to do that.

I have let Mr TT know of this potential deal and hope there will be no backlash against him or me; it is a simple case of timing and being able to source product through contacts at the right price. Expect to see a new GB post before the end of August. In the meantime, PM me if you want a kit immediately. If there are any other takers for the 2 remaining kits I have, please PM me only - first in best dressed is the fairest way to do it.

The 4 kits I could put together have aready been sold or committed to. However, before proceeding further and getting more bits, I have asked for quotes on 316 stainless steel. I believe the US kits were all 304 grade, as were mine above, but a couple of forum members have advised me to check out the 316 grade.

When I have all the answers, I will work out what to offer, and will then re-post a new GB to suit. Hopefully this can be done within 2 weeks.
