The last time I saw a Torque/Power curve like that I had .86ar Exhaust Housings and no VTC ... I suppose until you get your feeling issue sorted you won't have accurate indication of how drives ?

VTC was def working and active until 5000rpm. Did have a play around setting it higher and lower (on street). Setting at 5000 was smoothest by feel.

Driveability is quite nice and smooth. Previously power hit very hard and had some wheelspin as boost came on in 2nd, now has a smoother transition into boost.

    Probably should update this!

When I said VTC was working, in fact, VTC was not working. Turns out that in a previous nistune address file, the VTC enable and VTC disable tables were labelled the wrong way around. Toshi was still using the older address file.

In effect, this was telling VTC to disable before it had enabled and was therefore always off. It was only when I loaded up the .bin file on my newer version of nistune software (and address file) that I stumbled across this.

So now power comes on alot sooner, much more in line with the previous curves, which is great.

In other news, the engine has developed a tick tick tick noise and a misfire in 1st gear, high load. Could not pinpoint it the noise, and could not induce the miss in neutral.

Kinda sounded like a coilpack was earthing out or something like that.

So I deleted the S2 PTU harness and soldered it in. Did a comp test (as scary as that was) and came back perfect. Phew. Plugs all looked good too.

Then I swapped out the new splitfires the other night and dropped in the stock coilpacks.

Noise gone. Haven't driven it yet to see if the miss has gone.

I am unsure now, if I should leave the stock coils in there, or continue the process of elimination to identify which splitfire(s) are making the noise and swap it(or them) for the spares I have.

Also awaiting a new loom (and patch harness) and an AEM 380L pump from Coz. :br:

    Benny_C About as subtle as...

Dude, just quickly jump in it right now and blast up the road to try and induce that 1st gear breakdown that it does. If you can't get it to miss like that again, you know both issues are purely to do with those spitfire coilpacks.

Now, go for a drive, go cray-cray in first gear, and report back if you've gotten rid of that first gear miss due to swapping back to OEM coilpacks.

Then we discuss further action. :) :zlove:

What plugs did you end up running?

Currently have the tt platinum plugs in. Didnt have a chance to swap to the NA iridiums when on the dyno due to the fuelling issues.

Cant drive atm Benny. Wisdom teeth playing up so mix of bourbon and codine atm. Happy days

Gotta get onto that man! I'll try find the plugs I'm using for you, they're cheap, double iridium, and pre gapped to like .7mm or something

    Definately yours Mike

But I will always have a interest in it, lot of blood sweat and tears, not to say money invested in it in my time.:)

    thread bump

did you sort out that misfire issue/coils etc ?

Wow been ages since an update. So, I pulled the engine to track down an annoying exhaust leak that I thought was a manifold gasket. Turned out to be a crack in the AMS manifolds, which I found purely by chance while I was cleaning up the faces to re-install them. I decided to upgrade to MSP's since I had come this far.

Since then, I've had some progress. Got new manis on and engine back in.

Heaps nicer than the chinese stuff

Got most of my fuel system stuff in 1 shipment

Went with Fuelab 42401 pump and 52901 regulator, cheaped out on lines etc with raceworks 200 series. Injectors I started with bosch 2200cc but as research informed (and the little warning note in the packets they came in), they aren't e85 (or any liquid fuel for that matter) safe. Hopefully end up with Delphi 1400cc.

Had to get a new custom surge tank made to replace the custom tank I already had to fit in the limited undercar space. Thanks to Steveo's Customs (2thumbsUp) for that, and thanks to Al for the fitting welding and sealing work! And thanks Lisa for driving up after he forgot the filler [IMG]
New tank is actually larger in volume than the old one, 3L instead of 2.7 but whatever.

Had to modify a few bosses etc on the plenum to allow clearance of the rails. I got a bit carried away and cut off and smoothed all the other redundant bosses. I returned to the original plenum off the car which had been polished (once upon a time) and port matched to the lower plenum (and the lower to the heads). Doing this meant I had to enlarge the throttle body openings to match the larger throttles. Seemed easier to do this than to do the upper to lower holes on the HPC coated plenum that already had larger throttle body holes (did that on my last zed, not fun).

While the plenum was off I took the oppertunity to re-do the cam covers is some kind of sparkly silver. It is kinda textured but shiny and I think will contrast the black wrinkle that the plenum will be finished in. I didn't pick the color, I sent Cara out for some 'grey or silver or something' and she did pretty well.

    Before clear coat

Starting to make up routes and lengths

I also have had the dash out to re-install some of the air con stuff that didn't get put back in after the wiring harness install (was pressed for time with an event the following day). With the dash out, I took the time to tidy up a stack of wiring.

I tried to enlist some help with the dash re-install but he wanted none of it.

And that's about where I am at. Dash is back in but still need to do the pods and the trims (and seats). Engine is in but haven't finished plumbing. Need to add a new bulkhead fitting because the fancy regulator has to be on a return line direct to the main tank.

    System goes something like this:
Walbro 460 in tank -> surge tank -> fuelab external pump -> rails -> regulator -> main tank.

The surge tank overflow returns to the main tank via a cooler.

Still haven't decided the final routing of the 10AN feed line and a few other engine bay routings, but it is getting there.
