    Hi guys,
I have just put some HKS bov in the Zed and they where running well for a while, then all of a sudden the car went into safety boost mode wont go over 6 psi, (usually hit 12).

I was just wondering what everyone thought could this be a boost leak or could one of the turbos gone out??

Also is it true if one twin turbo cars if one turbo blows dose it cause the other one to blow from all the pressure sent to the other??

Also was thinking of doing a boost leak test tomorrow is this a good idea or just a waste of time??

sorry for all the random questions but would really appreciate all the help i can get thanks :D

When you get to boost pressure does it say hit 9 than drop to 6 or does it sluggishly creep up to 6 at highest ?

I don't think your turbos are gone or you would be blowing some smoke or know by now

What psi do they new bov open at? Have you done a boost leak test? Did u block the return side on the air intake? Any fault codes? You could disconnect boost solenoid and see if it holds pressure?

what sort of Boost control do you have, how has it been set up as well, the common thoughts are if you have a MBC then the actuators that control the safety boost setting are normally disconnected.

If you are only boosting off 1 turbo you may only see about 6psi (I did when I found one of my turbos were clocked and the wastegate was partially open permanently) I ran for 3 months like that and the turbo seemed fine enough when I fixed it.

Personally I would look for a boost leak.

it hits 6 pretty fast and just stays there it feels like the car wants to go more but something wont let it

i already had after market bov and yer i blocked the other end off with the blanking plugs and had no problem, The new bov release in all stages of boost they were working well for a while and just all of a sudden went into safety mode

I dont have any boost controller at all just running like normal i have aftermarket boost gauge and thats about it.

but yer could the wastegate still be open on mine at all ?

Stock boost is 9psi so hitting 12 with no alterations means something has been changed. As for your your wastegate unless someone has had the engine out and or been fooling with the turbos I doubt your waste gate is stuck open. I would still be looking for a boost leak unless the BOV's are set to open at 6psi - Although I am not 100%sure that would cause your issues and even if it does that does not explain the good boost before. Finally you really should do a error check because a failed DET sensor (code 34) will cause you to go into safetyboost. This code does not mean you are detonating but that you have a faulty sensor. I do not know how to diagnose safety boost due to the sensor actually detecting detonation.

Ok cool ill get on it about to do a boost check now and then ill check the error codes too thanks :)

Thanks everyone for the help just finished with the boost leak tester and found ad few leaks and fixed them all up :)
now the car is running great thanks for the help :)
