Has anyone had the ac compressor rebuilt? if so could you give me an idea of parts + labor cost?

also has anyone had replacement hard lines made up?

    Thanks

You'll probably find with the number of Z's being parted out, it would be cheaper to purchase a used unit rather than having one rebuilt.
This would be more appealing to say someone with a 1989 or 1990 model purchasing compressors off later model Z's.
If on the other hand you had a 1994 or later model Z, obtaining a replacement compressor from a 1989 model may not be so attractive.
Therefore rebuilding the compressor may be a viable option.
Get a couple of quotes on a rebuild vs buying a used 'working' unit.

true, but even the newer compresors are going to be off a car minimum 16 years old (as if youll ever find a 2000 model being parted out) or more likely something from the mid 90's.....so 20 years old still........

That's what I'm worried about really, replacing a part simply to have to replace it again a short while after.

I took the car to a garage specializing in aircon only to be told they pressurized the system and saw it loose pressure but didn't know where.

I had thought they used some sort of uv dye to identify the leaks?

When I asked about cost to repair they told me its an open cheque book, needless to say I didn't go with them for the work.

I'm prepared to pay to have a system as new as possible though but like to have an idea of wheat the most likely sources of the leaks will be.

Alternatively I can buy new parts from conceptz which is something I'm considering

To give you a rough idea, I bought my Yellow Zed for $2k in May/June(?). The previous owner had the aircon repaired/reconditioned as it was also losing pressure somewhere. He did this in January this year and he left the receipt in the glove box for $1800. Not a cheap task depending on what's wrong I'd guess
