    Hey everyone, I've met a few members on here, but for those who aren't familiar with me, I'm Jesse from Melbourne :p I own a 1990 Aztec Red Aus-Spec Z32 2+2
    This won't be like some of the other threads on the forum, it'll be slow, reeeeally slow, but I thought it was about time to record things that I do to the Zed over time. Still relatively new to the car scene and still have a lot to learn.
    So I got the Zed in July 2014 straight after selling my R31 :(
    [IMG]
    Any way, for the month it sat in the driveway till I got my P Plates, round came August and I got my license and so began the Zed life ;).

    For a while the car looked like this; [IMG]

    Before anything, an ECUtalk was purchased, once paid, I received it within 3 days, great service and is extremely helpful; [IMG]

    The ECUtalk saved the Zed... Driving home from a mates house, cruising in 5th, suddenly temp shot from 80⁰c to 100⁰c, quickly shut the car off. Long story short, Heater core decided it didn't want to work anymore, so a bypass occurred, leaving me heater-less and left the cabin stinking of coolant (which I am still to this day trying to get rid of, anyone have any home remedies?!) which is pretty uncomfortable during winter I found out hah.
    While doing the bypass, the Clutch Master was checked, and revealed that my fluid was brown :eek:
    Instead of bleeding the overcomplicated system, it was removed to make way for a one-piece clutch line from UAS, new system bled and noticed a difference straight away.

    Decided it was time to give the car a service, Laser Platinum plugs, K&N Oil filter, Ryco Fuel Filter, Penrite 10W40. Honestly, car didn't feel any different to what it was like before, but all in the name of reliability.
    [IMG]
    All of this made a nice dent on my wallet (part-time wage life :rolleyes:), so it was a while till the next change came round.

    Next on the list, was a sound system, with loads of help from Dean (bRACKET), and another Zed owner (who I hope will join the forum and share his Zed soon..), wiring was run, new Alpine speakers, 12" Sub and Amp were hooked up, and it sounded/sounds a million times better than the garbage that was in it previously. Unfortunately I didn't grab any photo's of the previous 'wiring'. But I got some photo's of the bare Zed, bit daunting to look at hah!

    I managed to snap up a Genuine OEM Titanium key along with the all the barrels to go with it for a steal, seeing as my ignition barrel is worn to the point where nearly any key will start it :eek: , I had no excuses (Thank god for a ridiculous alarm system!)
    Will be installed within the next week, hopefully :D
    The weird as previous key that can't be replicated due to it's length??
    Not sure how key cutting goes, but no one would touch it;
    [IMG]

    Aaand the 'new' titanium key;
    [IMG]

    Onto different aesthetics..

    Off came the Import indicators, on went the Aus-Spec OEM indicators; [IMG]

    Today I received my Nismo clear side indicators from Rob (Thanks again mate.) Massive aesthetic upgrade from stock, look so much better; [IMG]

    Thanks to some considerate fellow, I was left a great present when I came back to my car;
    [IMG]

    Due to the lack of money (balancing Tafe and work) repair was going to take a while, but in came another job and that means the repair should be taking place within the month :D
    To replace the Aus-Spec rear bar, I purchased a Jap-Spec bar (same thing, no rear reflectors) off Lidz (Tim) who happened to also have a Kaminari Wing to replace the old worn out rubber wing, massive thank you to Tim once again for being so helpful during the sale, owe you many favours.

    One last photo :p

    Till the next update, Jesse.

    To get rid of the smell, you'll probably need to remove all the carpet and underlay, get them professionally cleaned and allow to air out for a few extra days, clean the metal flooring up with some sugar soap solution, coat with killrust or similar, then reinstall.

    Ah wonderful, might try attacking it with some more powerful carpet cleaners before going to that length:eek:

    The problem is in the underlay as the liquid seeps through the carpet it gets soaked up by the underlay and that is more of the fiberous rubber and liquid once in is hard too get out unless removed and basically properly washed and rinsed. Plus any liquid that reach's the metal floor will sit and slowly rust the metal.

    Have you investigated new moulded carpet. Some google ad popped up while I was on Gumtree the other day. I didnt click it, Someone else must have checked it out.

    Dont forget to order your yellow LED bulbs for those side indicators and also your LED compatible flasher relay (with built-in beeper if you like the audio loud)

    LOL, every little change triggers another.

    Wheels

    Seemed about time to get wheels for the Zed, so waited for something nice to come up. Eventually these came up, for a steal, couldn't turn them down :p
    Unfortunately, the wheels don't clear the brakes, so spacers are essential :(
    Genuine SSR Vienna Kreis 18x9 - 18x10 +38 all round

    Cars booked in next week to get the guards rolled, few more suspension mods and they go on.

    Control Arm Conversion

    So, after what seemed like forever, a set of Stock Camber arms have been put into my Zed. The arms have adjustable bushes which allows for more camber when the arms have been maxed out, not sure if I'll need them down the road, but to save possible removal/installation of them, why not?
    Sorry about the horrible pictures, bit hard to imagine without seeing them.
    [IMG]
    But this is the gist of it;
    [IMG]
    I was warned and saw many different posts telling to be careful when removing the lower bracket bolts, buuuut I still managed to make a mess of the bolt and turned it from a hex to a circle :p
    Think it might have been a mix of previous over torquing and my own stupidity. Only put blame to the over torquing due to the ridiculous effort and force it took to get these bolts off. (Anti can vouch for this ;) )
    So, after some fun with the grinder, off came the bolt. Amazingly didn't damage the thread, so in the all clear.
    [IMG]
    And then the drivers side, same bolt was rounded, no where near as bad, some sockets made for removing rounded bolts cracked it off easy enough.
    Managed to track down some new bolts from Nissan, after wasting time at a wrecker that claimed to have the bolts.
    [IMG]
    New arms in, set to max camber.
    [IMG]
    Just to make life that much harder, the thread on the adjusting bolt that sits inside the adjustable bush was haggard (no idea how that happened).

    Annoyingly none of the pictures are showing up, will try to repost them at a later date.

    Hmm, I'm pretty sure the camber adjustable bush goes to the inside, chassis rail side of the control arm. Pretty sure that's how mine are installed. And your instructions (thanks for those by the way :D) also suggest this.

    Ah seems that way.
    Freaked out for a second, but read over the sheet again and came across this
    "In vehicles where a greater degree of adjustment may be needed (ie: motor sport, high performance and lowered vehicles FE2 or lower, or vehicles with rear sub frame damage) it may be necessary to install adjusters to both inner and outer pivot positions."
    Assuming that having the adjustable bushes on the 'wrong' side isn't too big of a deal?
    I have absolutely no idea about this :confused:

    :eek: Actually just checked mine, they're installed the same as yours :eek:

    The pic in the instructions suggests to the chassis side, but yeah provided you've put the arm back on the right way around, shouldn't be a problem.

    Arms have definitely been installed properly, feels good to drive on.

  17. Anti

    Anti 14.7 x 14.7 = 44.1

    Good to see you got it sorted! Adjustment bushes should simply go where best accessible, it makes no difference.

    Also I'm not sure how you Melbournians roll, but I used mine to remove some of the massive camber encountered with massive lows; not increase it.

    It was Dean's idea to go eccentric bushes, figured why not.
    I'll be running as much or as little camber needed to fit these wheels, so I'll have to see what it's like when the car gets dropped down, just for the VIP Stance lyf, ya know.

    Unfortunately the Zed was damaged this Thursday morning. Was booked in to go get the new body parts attached the following Wednesday, so pretty bummed out haha.
    Someone felt it was appropriate to smash the passenger side window, slash all my tyres bar one, drive nails through my bonnet and damage my passenger side guard.
    Just seems like a good excuse to get a whole respray, picking up a new bonnet and guard tonight, hopefully will see the inside of a spray booth soon.
