Had a red light flash on on my dash (whenever I touched brake) that said 'lights' assumed this might be talking about brake light bulb out, but it soon went out, and has stopped coming on, brake bulbs appear ok.
Could someone confirm what this is actually telling me.... search does not appear to hold the answer....cheers

Actually means there is a prob with your

lights. There is a sensor in the back that detects currency variations (or may well be impedence, Dangerous should know) from when one of your globes is blown or showing signs of blowing.
The window washer res is a different symbol all together.

Yep, there's a little black box down

the back of the car - right rear if I recall correctly, that monitors the current drawn by the stop and tail lights. It has an 8 pin plug on one end, and yellow, green and red wires going into it. If one or more of your globes blow (or you put one in that's the wrong wattage), it triggers the red light on the dash that you have seen. It can also be triggered if the globe is not making good contact, ie if it is loose, or there is a bit of corrosion on the globe or holder. I don't think that it's sensitive enough to pick up the number plate lights when they fail (too small a wattage), but I could be wrong. I'm pretty sure that the J Spec and Aus spec centre brake lights are not monitored, but I've heard that the US ones are. If your globes, holders and earths are all OK, and your battery voltage is fine, it may be a dry solder joint inside the box itself - it's pretty easy to pull apart. Hope this helps.

    red32 You talkin' to me?

    Center brakelight not monitored

on Aus-spec, at least as to wattage... I couldn't get the proper globes so replaced the existing ones with 5W, and got no warning lights (assumimg the warning light globe is intact)Cheers,
    Doug.

    Yep, you're right

The centre mounted brake lights are a wierd size and wattage - they're 13 watt 12mm diameter. Apart from paying too much ($13 each?) at Nissan for new ones, you have a choice of 18 watt 15mm ones which are a tad too large, or 5 watt 10 mm ones, which are a little dim. Then again, there's LED lights to consider.....
