I got the phone call today , yep an extra 200 odd, didn't really supprize me tho its UPS they miss nothing just like fedex . Regards Trev
You got a call?? All I got was a letter under the doormat. Which means I won't get it till tomorrow no doubt
Racelogic refused to play ball on that one In hind sight, we should have gone thru a third party in the UK to does play ball
Ah well, we still saved a few hundred bux so its all good :zlove: Thanks to all that got the GB together and made it happen.:bow2: hopefully this unit may save a few zeds, i for are alarmed at how many are written off ........... As for mine its destined for duty on the track  Trev
Heres a question why the hell are customs charging me GST based on it being worth almost $2050 when the cost to me including freight was easily $300 less.... WTF Looks like they calc'd the duty based on todays shitty rates rather than the cost I actually paid, so we are being taxed as if we paid more which isnt right... And I love how they charge a customs entry fee. Wankers!
You guys just pissed away over a grand on this thing (Almost $20,000 collectively, scarey huh?) and you're crying about a measley couple hundred bucks in duty fees? lol
Every dollar counts But I guess I just get frustrated when everyone touts this global economy bullshit yet when you go to import something you get slammed with all these extra taxes and levys. I have no problem spending money on my car but I get annoyed at the double dipping by the government at every chance. With that said I had expected to pay duty but I don't agree with the fact its been indexed at more than what I paid for it and thus been taxed/levy'd on it being worth more than what was paid. It's like going to buy something locally and then calculating the GST as if it cost 20% more and pinging you for more tax.
Well, thats just because the invoice is all they had to calculate the price from. If you can show true costs then I believe you would be entitled to get some money back. UPS arent doing it to make any money, they just pass it straight on to the ATO. Its actually quite handy that it is all done so efficiently and you dont have to bugger around with any of the paperwork yourself. The effort of getting it back is probably not worth it though but up to you Im sure the UPS office by phone or email would be able to tell you. As to whining about the extra cost, I think its more just a case that most of us are spoilt that we usually never have to pay these duties, so it sucks when you do get stung. Probably a very good lesson for future group buys of this sort. Even paying someone local a few hundred pounds collectively to pick up and reship our orders would of saved a lot of money.
Looked at that option Matt, but if a third party in UK buys them they have to pay VAT which is 17.5%. Its only if RL are sending them directly out of the country that VAT does not have to be applied. Just like if I bought 100 coolers from Hyperflo to send to Dubai, I would have to pay GST on them even though I was going to send them OS. I didnt like getting stung either , we are all so used to this not happenning it almost seems unfair , where as its just that 99.9% of the time we are very lucky . Caz..
Claymen I too dont understand why we get hit on retail price? I can and will supply every one with a detailed invoice , surely that is what taxes should be worked out on? Does anyone know why its calculated on retail not what we paid? Caz..
Sorry to see you guys have to pay so much tax. I got mine today. Tax free We usualy have to pay tax for evertyting here in Norway, so I guess I was just lucky this once. Anyway. BIG Thank You to everyone involved in pulling off this deal Geir Helge Eriksen '90 300ZX TT 2+2
See my post above Caz. UPS just work it out on the invoice they have at hand, i.e. what Racelogic supplied them. They take the pound value and calculate the $ value based at todays exchange. If you can show an actual cost then you should be entitled to a refund. How much effort that will be I dont know.
Good to hear Geir, was great to have you on board and hope you hang around here a bit. Make sure you let us know how you go fitting and using your RL system Caz..
Wooohooo My unit arrived just this morning. I cant wait to install it but i have to wait till i finish my thesis. Only 10 days till its due! I will be most likely heading down to wakefield on the 25th oct for the NSCC trackday so hopefully i will be able to have the unit in the car by then. The last time i went o wakefield was winter this year so I think i will be able to give a decent comparion. Just like the thank Caz and Mattz for making everything to happen! Even though i had to pay tax, i think i was overdue for tax considering i got a gearbox from the US under "warranty" LOL Thanks guys Michael
Thanks Nathan, I will talk to them in the morning. I can easily prove what was paid. The bookeeper is in tomorrow so you should all get your invoices and reciepts later this week, except you Geir...yours will take a little longer to get to Norway
received a call from customs saying there is a bill for 24somthing before they can send it away. so will hopefully get it early next week
I thought i would post here rather than start a new thread as it is related. Did anybody from the GB ever have a non-abs zed? As mine is a factory non-abs zed & ill have to install the speed sensors & was wondering if anybody had ever installed one to a non-abs zed as the install guide in the tech section from tt.net is for a zed with abs Anybody able to provide any extra information that i could pass on to the auto elec that is going to be wiring the racelogic traction control system in? Ive got the manual & CD & the speed sensors needed, but just thought i would ask as no harm in checking to see if anybody has ever done it in the past as my searches have come up negative. Thanks in advance
