I'll send a message to ACA. Don't worry Chili, you do deserve a pat on the back just like all the other members here.

Excellent letter Sandeep, I couldn't have put it better myself. You have portrayed us in a very accurate way. We do not as a whole, condone stupidity, but we do enjoy our cars potential for performance/ speed/charisma., and we do care about our fellow enthusiasts a little more than might be expected.

    Cheers

Good idea on the media thing. Not only does it reclassify the dreaded sports car driver as human, it shows that the generous human spirit is alive and well. Im sure they can slot it in between the celebrity and murder stories. It may even kick that crap story about a random zoo animal giving birth

Am I the only one that thinks this is ridiculous ?

We have someone who has decided not to insure his 300ZX and it gets stolen and burnt. So he knew the risk of not insuring a car, plus he was going to sell the Zed so he can't be too attached to it. Plus he was going to put a TT V12 into another Zed of his so obviously he can't be short of a dollar to take on such a project.

Wouldn't the money raised be better used for something needy like Childrens Cancer Research or to the Wildlife and Wilderness Society or to the LifeSavers etc.

I've held off from asking this because I'm expecting a barrage of replies saying I'm a heartless prick (which I am).

Im sure there are others, some have expressed those feelings in this thread earlier. Andy never asked for this and he was prepared to fully wear this himself, he knows it was a bad decision but he cant change that, this is not about whether he ****** up or not it is about sticking togethor like the community we are and helping a mate when he is down and out. And i think you will find that that it is more Andys strong will driving him to get his TT V12 and it is definitely not due to having excess funds to burn

    Huh? What do you mean?

Plus you spell it as "rhetorical" not "retorical"

    Chewy,

Few things that sor of stand out are:

    * Andy's finances are none of our business.
    * Caring for someone in this way is no different to providing to the people in need. Andy clearly falls under this criteria (Not putting you down here Andy)
    * Allowing the insurance to lapse was due to the fact that he had almost closed off a deal to sell the car. would you outlay $2000 odd if you knew you were selling the car in a Week??
    * There was purpose behind him selling his car which again is none of our business.

It is his parogative to share this information as is for us to part take in this activity as is for you to have an opinion.

Its neither here or there when it comes to situations like this. You either do it or you don't. I can't say your opinion is complete garbage and HEARTLESS but what i can say is it is some what outside the scope of what we are trying to do... SO PISS OFF..

    HAHAH just kidding..:D :D :D :D

    Benny_C About as subtle as...

    Really well said...

If everyone had an attitude like - oh it's his fault he didn't get insurance due to it lapsing, or could be better spend on another charity, etc.. then that would be a sad place to be a part of. He has helped a stack of people on this forum, and to top that off he is simply a nice guy who had some seriously bad luck.

It's not much skin of peoples noses for shelling out 20 bucks or whatever they're happy with, and he has already said his intentions are to get another Zed - so it's not going to a dead cause (not that it's any of our business anyay)

I feel that this is more about *friends* helping other friends out here, rather than a charity. And it gives me a GREAT feeling knowing that i've contributed to the cause, which you obviously don't know about Chewy.

    - Also, I think it's a lame thing to do putting something like this down on it's own thread. If it's something you don't want a part of for whatever reason, then just ignore it and leave us helpful, generous people do what we want to do and help our friend out.

    Ben.

And the fact that I started this appeal would have no bearing on your attitude , would it?

If you don't support this venture that is your choice. If that is the case, then you have no need to comment on this thread.
Your assessment of the facts of this case, are as flawed as your judgment to post your miserable remarks. Thanks for nothing.:mad:
Obviously you are one of very few people who are so bloody mean-spirited, hope your life runs smoothly, because if it doesn't, tough!:mad::mad::mad:

BTW, I wouldn't call you a heartless prick, more like a miserable asshole in my humble opinion(can't you find a few kids to tell there is no Santa Claus?)

    Guys,
I know that what Chewy has said has ruffled more than a few feathers, but eveybody is entitled to an opinion - that is what a democracy is about.
We who have contributed have done so knowing the circumstances of what Andy did, or did not do. Many times it has been said that Andy did not renew his insurance, but it must be remembered loudly and clearly that Andy did not ask for support. It was the members of this fantastic group of people who decided that we wanted to support Andy.
It makes no sense to involve ourselves in personal remarks or tirades, If chewy decides to view his points - no matter how many of us do not like them, it is his choice and we must respect him for doing so. There might be many people who feel the same way as Chewy, but we must feel sorry for those people as they must lead such perfectly well run sterile lives that they have never felt the touch of frindship like I hope Andy is feeling with us.
Let this appeal not dissolve into a war of words, there is a long way to go before we reach the total that Chilli is looking for, lets just do it and show what mateship is about.
My son has a life threatening illness called Cystic Fibrosis, but I still chose to donate to the Andy appeal, that is my choice, it does not stop me working for Cystic Fibrosis, but I saw a person who had some bad luck, someone who has a lot of good in them, and I decided that this is what I wanted to do.

    Not a problem Baz

I have only had my ZX for a short while, I do not know andy, but have seen and read so many good things about him and how he has helped so many new people like me.
This is a great community, and it would be a great pity that it should be torn apart by something that is so good to do because of a few characters that 'do not feel the love'!
We all have choices, I made mine, others will make theirs, and eventually Chilli will get there and Andy will be a happy chappy again instead of feeling the way he must have felt when he saw his pride and joy trashed.

Thank you for that insight Neill, you have expressed your points very clearly. You are correct in saying that Shane has an entitlement to his opinion, unfortunately, he also has a history of unprovoked and unwarranted attacks on issues he chooses from time to time, this is obviously one of them.
My annoyance with this Shane's actions are based on his erroneous assumptions about Andy's motives and financial situation, and what I view as insulting comments directed at the compassion shown by the wonderful people who have chosen to assist me with this endeavor.

I'm very sorry to hear of your son's illness(I have a nephew in the same situation) and I sincerely wish him, and you, everything you hope for. I think he is in very good hands.:zlove::zlove:
