    Hey all,

As some of you already know, I went a little too hard and fast with my last 300zx leading me to some unexpected money issues.

As such, I had to sell my Z. :(

    But all is not lost...

I had devised a plan to purchase another 300zx. But with a little twist...

After finishing off my house, I had no capital of my own, BUT I did however have some of my mum?s savings in my account... I set out to borrow some of those savings, purchase some wrecks, part them out, make back the $$ I had borrowed, replace those $$ before anyone noticed and use the profit to purchase another 300zx.

    Hence Project free 300!

I had purchased a total of 3 wrecks to part out.

    Black 2+2 manual Z - $4200 parted out / $2000 purchase price ? Profit $2200
Silver 2+2 Auto Z - $1800 parted out / $1100 purchase price ? Profit $700 (But kept engine and gearbox)
Black 2+2 shell - $1100 parted out / $1000 purchase price (But I kept huge $$ worth of bits!)

    Total profit from wrecks: $3000

These wrecks consisted of the following aftermarket bits (majority of good bits came from Andrew (Minivans) shell. Cheers m8!)

    Parts as follows:

Mandrel bent big Single Exhaust cat back (I know ppl hate singles, but this was soo well made and sounded soo good, why not!) ? Minivans shell
HKS coilovers (front) ? Minivans shell
Tokico rear shocks ? Minivans shell
Subframe with custom hicas lockout and Nolathane bushes throughout ? Minivans shell
Adjustable camber arms front and rear ? Minivans shell
Adjustable castor rods (front) ? Minivans shell
Adjustable toe in rods (rear) ? Minivans shell
    18" rims - Black 2+2 manual wreck
FMIC - PZP style - Silver 2+2 Auto wreck
Socketted ECU with ebay performance chip :s ? Silver 2+2 Auto wreck

And with the above bits being the base for my new Z, I began the search...

Didn't take long at all really! Approximately 1 week!

Guess I'm a bit of an impulsive buyer anyways, but saw a Z advertised not running in the paper for $5k and figured I'd go for a look...

Interior was excellent, body had a few small dings n dents but nothing major. Plus I had the panels at home to fix it up if need be. The front of the motor (ie timing belt covers, crank pulley, tensioners, belts and accessories were in pieces mostly. Looks as if someone had tried to pull things apart to fix something (unsure as to what) and got lost putting it back together.

Finally agreed on a price of $2700 with the seller as the work required was/or seemed to be extensive.

About a week later, I had organised with Chris, aka ezzupturbo, to help me pick it up.

Literally got it home, turned the cas around the right way, plugged in a few connectors and started it up! Car hadn?t been running for months and started first pop. No smoke... Idled perfectly...
    We were totally stunned!

A few hours later, the accessories, radiator, hoses etc etc were re-installed and we took the car for a drive. Again, no issues what so-ever. No codes on consult, no smoke, no rattles. Bit of a miss every now and then, but ended up putting that down to a coilpack connector. Wiggled it a bit and sorted!

Using the money I had made from parting the wrecks, I now essentially have a running and registered Z for FREE! :D:D:D Mission accomplished!

Now time for the fun stuff...

Still had a few extra $$ up my sleeve from the wrecks, not to mention the rims, splash guards, and various other bits to sell from my new Z.

Combined with the profit made after the purchase price of my Z ie: $3000 profit from wrecks - $2700 buy price = $300 to spend + the bits n pieces sold from my Z ($300), I have a total of $600 to spend on other bits!

With that plus some additional funds, I purchased the following:

HDi electronic boost controller (new) $120
Turbosmart Adjustable FPR + gauge (new) $200
    Intercooler hoses (2nd Hand) $150
PZP dumps + front pipes (2nd Hand) $200
    Nistune (2nd Hand) $220
    GFB BOV?s (2nd Hand) $80
GFB Ud + Od Pulley (2nd Hand) $220
    Maintenance $200

    Total: $1400 approx.

So this far, my Zed has cost me $800! :D

The past few weeks has consisted of a plenum pull, engine bay clean-up, replacing a few panels, a little panel work and some overall maintenance. A huge thanks again to Chris (ezzupturbo) for helping me out soo much with getting her running and re-assembled soo quickly over the weekend.

**I had sold my other car (commodore ute) on Friday and had no transport! Guy came with 6k cash to buy it!**

Anyways, she still has a long way to go, but wanted to share some pics of the Z so far:

    Enjoy!

Pretty cool story. You've done yourself well. Now to capitalize on your skills learnt and begin the process to take over the world. One company at a time.

But in all seriousness, you really have come out in front. With a little time and plenty of effort you've made everything possible. We all should learn from these lessons.

Just imagine trying to persuade you mother of this plan prior to the actual doings.

You've gotta be happy with yourself for this mate. We'll have to have a few squirts down at the drags and see how the cars compare down the 1/4, hey?

Saw the engine bay on saturday guys and it looks sweet as. The car is certainly worlds away from how it was when you picked it up. Your efforts are certainly looking like they're going to pay off!

Are you going to be running a FMIC, or will you be heading down the aftermarket SMIC path?

Something different this time :) Veilside and 20's were the previous owners choice. I did like the combination in black, but this time it'll be something a lil different :p
