the drivers side window started playing up on tuesday in the heat & I cant get to the bottom of the problem, really need help!

    better describe the problem then:
when i press window up (or down) the motor makes noise but nothing happens, as in no movement of the window. The motor always operates so i highly doubt the problem is electrical.

regardless I first tried resoldering the little black box in the bottom of the door as per the tech article incase there was any dry joints, no luck.

Next I removed the motor from the door, massive PITA job by the way! Once the motor was out I hooked it back into the loom to see if the pinion gear turned, which it does. Then opened up the reduction mechanism incase it was damaged internally allowing it to spin without load. However everything inside looks good. Plenty of grease, no broken teeth, both worm & larger reducer gear look to be in excellent shape. ran it quickly with cover off & everythings operating as it should.

So what now??? The only thing i can think of is the motors not meshing with the window mechanism properly but I cant see how it could've randomly jumped out of mesh.
Tried refitting it but still the same issue, motor works but windows motionless.

Any suggestions? It's driving me nuts!!!
    cheers, Tim

Have you tried holding the drive gear to put the motor under load and check that the gear is not slipping on the motor shaft

Perhaps the guide pins are binding on the rails or some foreign object? Rails themselves may have gone out of alignment.

Have you tried to pull the glass up

whilst the window motor is operating? Could be binding in the tracks. Sometimes the little plastic wheels that run in the window guide tracks can flatspot/crumbe & then jam.

Alternative: the glass has 'dropped' out of the verticle and/or horizontal window guide tracks
