Remove and replace I would give 5 hours being generous if you aren't replacing by-passing anything else.

I would leave a day to do it if it's your first time. Things like the EGR pipes are going to frustrate you no end, also your going to want to replace a fair few things which are going to break on your first go, also assuming time for injector connectors, etc. If you've got someone who's well versed in it, then you can reliably get the job down to about 2-3hrs.

Your going to want to replace, especially if they are original the Rear Left and Right PCV hoses and all injector insulators, and of course an upper plenum gasket. If your careful with everything else it should make it through unscathed. I would however get about 3ft of 8mm coolant hose and do the bypass.

Also becareful when you pull the fuel rail not to drop the little plastic buffers down into the lower plenum...that can be a bitch.

Yeah plenum pull took the best part of about 6 hours on my Z.... Mind you, that included EGR delete, replacing rocker cover seals etc.

Oh n Andy, you forgot the IACV hoses! Almost definitely break upon removing the upper plenum... :)

Will have a spare complete plenum pull kit up for sale once I receive my order from Coz. (This week)

    2m 8mm Heater hose
    2m 8mm Vac line
    2m 6mm Vac line
    2m 4mm Vac line
    PCV valve and hose kit
    IACV gasket
    IACV hose kit
    Plenum gasket
    Intake valve cover gaskets

$260 delivered! Cheap cheap! You buy you buy! :)

To do all the suggested jobs while plenum is off is at least one full day.

I've done well over a hundred I reckon and to do the job properly takes time. Full list of suggested jobs on my website.

    cheers guys.
i know there are so many things can be done while the plenum is off.
but actually I have just got some new injectors from COZ, so just want to change them.
maybe i should at least bypass those coolant lines.

    lastly, what can go wrong?

Well, if you label every wire and hose

including the spigots where the hoses go, not too much. And definately bypass the under-plenum hoses and if turbo, change them out also.

Its really false economy not to do as many jobs as possible while the plenum is off. Eventually all the jobs need doing which each normally necessitate another plenum pull n' push.

Common errors are swapping # 6 injector plug with the AAC or FIDC plugs and not reconnecting the two wiring earths on the rear of the plenum. Also forgetting to remove the LHS 02 sensor wiring loom retaining clip at rear LHS plenum when removing plenum and getting the det sensor wiring caught under the plenum when reinstalling.

    Hi Galo.

I would have thought you've done a Plenum job before. Didnt you do a timing belt on your NA back in the day?

Also why are you putting new injectors in your zed when you have it for sale?

Unless you have multiple zeds....you zed whore you :zlove:

Its reasonably straight forward. Once you've done it one or two times. But when replacing the injectors be sure to have new seals to install with them. Also make sure everything is clean before you drop them in. As if they dont seal properly the first time (after you've put it all back together) its a PITA!!!!!

See how much AZC's will charge you to do the job. Talk to Jaz (adam) and see if he can sweeten the price.

yes I did do the 100k service but havent done plenum pull.
btw I only have one zed, which is the one for sale.
750cc injectors i got from COZ are sitting in my room, i really want to see its potential before she is going to new home.

will ring AZC tho later. or you wanna give me a hand? give you some Z gift.

I would most definitely to the coolant bypass. It will make things so much easier when reinstalling and, the next time you do a pull, you will thank yourself. I've done it 3 time now.

My first time took about a total of 24 hours of work split between 2 days because I ran into massive problems. My second time (bypass competed on first pull) took a total of 3 hours from start to finish. My third time was on a friend's car (who had never been pulled) and it took us 9 hours from start to finish while joking around and taking our time.

Not sure if you have it or not but here is a helpful pdf I have hosted on my website.

Im happy to help but havent the space so it would have to be at yours.

Make a mini mini tech day of it if you wish. I know you're tight for space too.

Ive done a few, albeit NA's but ive read more than enough to work out the extra little bits the TT has coming off the engine.

Food for thought. Other was AZC is the next best thing. If you cbf with it and for fast results.

    • Important to do a baseline test using conzult or similar software to ensure the engine idles and revs smoothly.
    • Unsure about USA, but Australian/J-Spec zeds have a 7.9-8.00MM internal diameter on the water and fuel lines.
    • Inspect/(Replace and refit if required) exhaust and intake valve covers using gasket sealant/gaskets.
    • Inspect/Replace the LHS rear Turbo water line "Bastard-hose".
    • IACV (idle control unit) and Air Regulator units dismantled, bench tested and recondition.
    • Replace 6 x injector, 1 x AAC, 1 x FIDC and 1 x Air Regulator wiring plugs.
    • Service injectors replacing upper and lower O'rings and fuel rail insulators.
    • Insert EGR blanking plates

I know you can get away with not doing some of these additional jobs but it is false economy if the plenum has to come off again later (which it will) to do these jobs.

*Check the turbo outlet hose clamps. Will be 2 clamps linked with a steel strip. Simple to get to with plenum off, nearly impossible with it on, and were loose as on my TT.
*Unbolt the VCT solenoids and reseal the bottom of them also.
