I just want to get an idea of how much legroom there is in the back of the 2+2 300ZX. How does it compare to say a Celica or a Prelude in rear legroom?

The best suggestion I can give you.....>>

Is to go and sit in one. Find a car yard that has one for sale, or see if a NSW member living near you can meet up with you. It is the only "real" way I can see to fully appreciate how compact the back of a 2+2 is.

2+2 is really 2 adults plus 2 children...

the Wheels magazine article (Pure-Bred Zed) has a photo... you can fit two adults in the back (I have), but you need the front seats all the way forward:[image]http://www.aus300zxclub.com/magazine/d2p1.jpg[/image]

    Holy crap!

OMG, I had no idea the rear seats were like that. You would have to cut your legs off before you could sit in the back. A child could just barely fit if you moved the seat up a bit.I guess that means I won't be looking for a 300ZX when I get my next car. Sigh!:`(

    You should really.....>>

Go and see one in person. The seat in that picture is all the way back which gives the impression that there is no room at all. While it isn't comfortable in the back it is possible for an adult to ride in it for short distances, and for children under 10 it is no problem at all.

There is also the 'zed factor' to consider

When given the choice of being a little uncomfortable riding in an instantly recognisable sports car like the zx or being comfortable in a pedestrian Commode/Falcon I know most kids would choose the zx. I know my two (9+11yo) would rather put up with the zx seats than anything else!!! ;)

I have carried 2 adults in the rear seat>

of my car (with all the luggage for a weekend away)and a journey of several hours. It might be tight, but it's not as bad as some would have you believe.Cheers

I'm always taking people in the back seat

sure its more cramped than a commonwhore, but its a lot better than some others.A silvia I went in once, I guess the leg room wan't bad as such, but you had to duck your head a bit cause the roof was too damn low!!I've been in the back seat in mine, and its pretty comfy. Nice bucket seats :-Z

Ok, I'll go check one out

I guess it would be a bit hard to judge how far I could move the seat forward without seeing it for myself. I'll go look at one, but that picture really gave me a shock. I don't really care if people get cramped in there, so long as they can fit.

Z's have always been generous in footroom...

for front passenger/driver, and it's possible to get a fair bit of footroom for your rear passengers when you slide the front seats forward. The major complaint I get from rear passengers is the lack of headroom, plus the sun on the back of your head, as the hatch glass goes well over the back seat. I think the other posters have things well summed up - try before you buy, you'll probably be satisfied - these aren't the worst 2+2's for room, and the extra luggage space is really useful on trips. Just don't contemplate long (1hr+) trips with adults in the back seat!

Theres enough room for 2 adults.

As long as they're of a normal size, not obese or 7'0" tall.I've sat in the back before as my G/F was driving, and I'm just under 6'0" and the head room was bothering me more than the leg room. I had to bend my head slightly.Seriously.. Go the ZED you won't regret it :D

    Comparison to Soarer/SC400

Today I got a lift in my friend's Toyota Soarer and I checked out how much room it had in the front and rear. It seems pretty similar to the 300ZX in the picture in terms of legroom. If thats the case, then the 300ZX is definitely back in my sights. I'll still check out one anyway just to see what its like.
