Brad Good to catch up with you yesterday mate, All I can say about you build is " Damn you are one patient man ", I'd have spat the dummy by now and given up . Keep up the good work mate. Andy
Anyone Scared Yet? You asked . . . . . I go, "nope Brad - right with you - great idea" Well . . . . . . . Just to let you know - scared now, just a little afraid even. Thank you for the insight into how it is done, learning all the time here.
Yeah great chatting on Saturday with you mate, always good to bounce the enthusiasm off one another and get back into our own projects. Hope the brakes worked out nicely for you too.
No worries, it really could have been done easily enough by the factory, but I guess servicing would have been more difficult given the ECU tray is not as accessible as the front of the engine bay. Lately I find the thing is it's always in the back of your mind so when you go to bed you're thinking about it so much you can't sleep so you get up and make some pancakes and walk out to the garage and have a little look at the next loom to be re-routed and how you can do another little thing, then another....
A good trick for getting it out of the back of your mind and getting a good night's sleep is to write down a list of next items to work on as you finish for the day. This helps take the brain out of overdrive. If you are still thinking about things after dinner then repeat the process and write a second list before you head for bed. Works for me, hope it helps. Not that 3:00am pancakes is such a bad way to go. Keep up the good work.
It's a great idea, will have to buy a bigger whiteboard though as the current one is full of the planning for the radiator relocation plus other long-term bits. Thanks for the idea
Some more updated pics, the relay box re-route is finished along with the PTU rewire (hidden down the right hand side of the right ECU tray bracket and the transmission tunnel). It's all bolted back into place and just needs some more conduit to finish it off a little more neatly. Who knows I might make up a clear perspex cover board to show it off at shows but I'm pretty sure there'd only be a handlful of people that would actually recognise how much work they're looking at That's the main engine loom on the right. I've pulled it through the firewall so it's out of the way when the engine bay smoothing gets started. With the top board in place and carpet layed over. There's a 20mm spacer under the top board but you wouldn't pick it. Even the velcro tabs for the carpet still line up. The other side of the dash not-so much finished.... Pulled the Engine harness through and pulled out the last bits of wiring and brake booster. Started on the battery tray but that will have to be cut out. Ready to get out the grinder now, remove all the unwanted bits and start welding those seams up...
Tidy as Brad! Really admire your patience and attention to detail too! Cant wait to see it all finished!
very nice build have started doing the wire tuck on my project also, is good to see someone else has had a go, goona be watching this and if you dont mind might use a few of your ideas, not a direct copy.
must have must have got tangled up in all that wiring hes doing...... seriously though.....would also like to see update.........:zlove:
UPDATE: Seeing as everyone is over in Goulburn this weekend I thought I'd put up some updates. Have had far too much happening in other areas to have time to do as much as I wanted but these things always take longer than you expect. Plated the top of the front cross-member for a cleaner look. Welded in a square bar section under radiator support panel to strengthen the bonnet catch so I can remove the vertical support bar under it. Getting there!
That looks soo awesome... No way I would Play with the loom, scares the shit out of me. Great job in all honesty live your attention to detail
awsomeeeeeeeeeeee update looks crazy, loving the work. did you remove that rubbery silicone stuff around the strut towers etc? i thought this stuff is for salt or flex etc ??? is there any problems with bogging up all these areas you have ? theres alot of holes that have been filled up what did you mean by this ?
