Ive been looking around at ignition coils to fit the zed in an attempt to find both a more aesthetic and cheaper alternative to our factory coils. I have found one i believe will do the job, and its actually from a late model nissan. Aside from actually physically being able to connect up (right amount of pins, long enough) what else should i be looking for to make sure this coil is a suitable replacement? Is there a way i can find out the spark 'power'?

Please forgive my naievity, still new to the performance side of things :p

Got to ask, are you wanting to replace them because they are stuffed or because you want new ones?

I am using Splitfires, apart from them being blue I noticed no difference to OEM. Did you know you can get new ones from CarCraze for $66.90 each which is an absolute bargain for new OEM coils.

i had splitfires, made 0 difference and i sold them in about a month.

if you just want the pretty colours in your engine bay paint the stock mounting brackets.

I was considering this but said "**** that" at the thought of having to remove the manifold to change plugs.

You want SR20 coil packs, you can install them directly to the spark plug guide under the plenum. Alternatively, S2000 coil packs are gun and low profile too. Either way, you'll have to change the plugs on your harness to suit. Obviously not a big deal.

If you go SR20, it might be advisable to get a new set of Splitfires. Roughly $550 or so.

Not after pretty colours, was just going to look a lot less bulky, more streamlined i guess.

Anti, cheers for that, ill look into it. Dunno how i feel about taking the plenum off to do plugs either :p
