The interesting thing is not just the video itself, but the fact that it's a Hagerty video.

Hagerty of course being well respected in the classic/colletable car market ;)

    Getting the picture yet?

    *sigh*

Anyway, these are wonderful looking prime stock looking examples.

    Wonderful.

What I dont get with these cars, they always get such great reviews, but they dont have a massive following.

Because there some things work against the Z32:

    1. They were too common. 160,000+ Z32s produced
    2. They were never cheap to own (maintain) if you compare them to other performance equivalents from Japan at the time e.g. any Nissan S chassis & RWD Skylines.
    3. It's more expensive to get power out of them reliably compared to 1JZ or 2JZ powered RWD Toyotas.

Our cars get lumped with Mitsubishi GTOs/3000GTs in terms of weight and maintenance. Not deserved really as it's definitely lighter than those and cheaper to service than the very complex and extra cramped AWD GTO.

They were good out of the factory power wise, just because you cant get 10000000000rwhp with just a boost controller, makes it bad?

If they weren't cheap, why was there so many sold?

Never said it makes them bad, but the people who like cheap power will go elsewhere which from a owners' perspective is a good thing.

I couldn't find global numbers on the NA vs TT split but if using the US numbers as a guide, there were roughly 2-3 NAs sold for every turbo Z32. The gap grew bigger for every year of production. Toward the end of the US sales they were selling 4 NAs for every TT. So that made up a lot of the sales numbers. If NA owners wanted power they would have to convert. Cheaper to just go out and buy something else.

I think they have a bigger following than "we" think.

The amount of people who are not really "car nuts" but go "OH WOW" when, as I ramble off my list of past cars, I say the words "300ZX Twin Turbo" and a conversation follows.

So many who dont know that much about cars, and aren't the kind of person to go chasing numbers, but know what they like to look at LOVE the 300ZX.

The Zed line actually carries more respect than we enthusiasts give it credit for.

Numbers of good ones are dropping fast.

    The time will come ;)
