Hi, this car was for sale on here, and now its going to be my weekend toy/when it rains and i cant ride my bike car.

    3L N/A Auto Slicktop, 135thou kms.
It goes well at the moment, but theres a few little bitties i want to do to coax out a few more ponies.

I have a printout from a dyno run the car has done with the paperwork, so i have something to start with at least.
So yea, things i am looking at doing at the moment are, new radiator/hoses/fans/whatnot so make sure overheating wont be a problem.
Then onto things like new Exhaust/headers/extractors/higher flowing cat (allowed in QLD?).
    New plugs and leads.
And then lastly fix the bodywork, it has definatly seen better days in that department.
Also any opinions on kits? These cars look pretty tough without too much over the top bodykits IMO.

Im a bike guy, so i may need a little advice on this one, the last car i had was a vc commodore, which i managed to fix up alright, but was later taken off me by the insurance company after a hailstorm.

So with all that stuff you want to do to it - upgrades and maintenance - it's going to cost you almost as much as a good TT that has better performance and doesn't require all that maintenance cost: $12,000

    geez guys lighten up

Hey Nemo, welcome to the forum. You've come to the right place. What do you ride? I'm about to get my first bike as a daily while I do up a project Z.

I think unfortunately you'll find that these are a lot harder to work on than Commodores  But you'll get there either way.

So far as bodykits go, you're pretty on the money about OTT kits. Generally, the GReddy front bar (I've got it) or the Nissan late model front bumper (going on my next Z) are very popular. For the sides, a lot of people go Kaminari or Stillen. On the rear it's Kaminari or the new TwinZ rear bar with diffuser, or maybe VeilSide. Take a look.

 No, its the car i will drive when i cant be arsed getting on the bike..
    although.....

Really? I may as well just take this to a cliff and push it off....
The things i am looking at doing are well affordable, easy to do jobs, and maintenance shouldnt be too much trouble, this car has been well looked after already.

This ones pretty neat, not over the top, and looks fairly standard.

Due to a few minor indiscretions and disagreements with the boys in blue, and court appearence, i am trying to keep myself on a cb400, instead of getting a sportbike again. It does alright for what it is, just not quite as fun..

Also yeah sourcing parts should be the only difficulty i foresee with this little project, but even then, not too much drama, im not looking for this to be done/complete anytime soon. Just something to keep me busy.

the Wing's West rear bar is just the Kaminari rear bar with mutton chops. it was not forgotten :)

Sourcing parts is rarely a problem dude, unless you're after limited-edition after market bits. Do it here - you'll get the quickest and cheapest response.

    Doin work

Ok, pulled the nose panel, air-box, front bumper, throttle cover, and drivers side guard off tonight.

The guard is off, because there is a new one coming.

Bumper has cracked around the drivers side towards the wheel well, so i will see what i can do with that, should be able to plastic weld it back together, or a bit of fibreglass patchwork.

Nose panel was off just to get the bumper off, but now looking at it, i am thinking of taking out the OEM airbox, and replacing with a pod/shroom filter, either that or just replacing the standard filters with some K&N jobbies.

No mechanical anything done as yet, because.. well i dont have anything here yet.

Also, with the air filters, if i take out the air box and replace with a pod filter, is it worth keeping the air flow metre or getting that out also?

You have to keep the air flow meter or your Zed won't rev past 3k, and will run like shit under that :zlove:

Assuming you don't have some aftermarket ECU to replace it that is... Go a pod filter bolted to the AFM.

    Like this!

I suspect your car looks much like this now, huh? That's my Zed at the tech day 1.5 weeks ago :D

Yeah, looks a bit like that, minus the big gonzo nose!
Thanks for the help, and with the pod on there, do you need to angle it down any so its not interfering with the bumper??
