heaps of NA's and TT's in all configurations were imported from japan. they have been imported from japan to this country for 10 odd years++++, and were worth much more evn in NA guise back then......

    Update

    UPDATE

Ok alot of progress has been made but I have been very slack in updating do here we go

    LS1 Engine and Powerglide

    * Engine mounts made - decided to go for a universal mount kit and modify it, the kit was a trans dapt kit part number 4506 and just modified the crossmember to suit
    * Sump is a moroso sump part number 20140 this is the only one I could find with the dimensions I needed
    * Trans Tunnel needed a massage around the top of the bell housing and around the linkages (tried a 4l60e 4 speed auto didn't even go close)
    * Transmission mount and cross member std 300zx automatic with adapter plate to go to the powerglide mounting flange on extension housing
    * Converted the std shifter from a rod to cable operated and incorporated an inhibitor and reverse light switch
    * custom braided power steering high pressure hose
    * Std Radiator with thermo fans, top rad hose is off a 2000 Hyundai excel, the bottom hose is std Vy commodore
    * Custom braided auto cooler lines and large cooler at front under airbox
    * Std Commodore ecu wired in and made to plug into existing 300zx loom, all accessories work oil and temp gauges, speedo, taco, cruise control....lets face it its not worth doing if nothing works the only thing I need to do is send the cluster away to get the taco recalibrated to a V8. computer also fits under floor in std position and the is an obd2 plug for programming, tuning and fault finding
    * Unfortunately due to mounting the engine close to the firewall the heater outlets had to be removed so i currently have the dash out of the ca in 1000 pieces and am going to relocate the heater hose outlets over near the booster where the clutch master would be but have since found out that the heater core had a leak so ordering one from conceptzperformance I know its lhd but i am only going to cut it up anyway
    * Tailshaft has been measured just waiting for the one piece shaft to be made
    * A/C hoses have all been worked out and all fittings have been ordered so just waiting on that
    * Adjustable fuel pressure regulator ordered as an ls1 fuel pressure regulator is in the fuel tank
    * in the process of making the intake tube to the std air box that should keep the engineer happy
    * Charcoal canister hooked back up
    * Modified throttle relaxer from commodore to acconodate cruise control cable
    * As soon as this is all done I will send to the exhaust shop to get a set of extractors made

This is just a basic overview I am sure that there is heaps that I have missed if you want to know something specific please ask

Ok really starting to make progress now, decided because of bordem on the weekend to bite the bullet and attempt to make the extractors myself and success all done not as neat as an exhaust shop but they were all old used pieces used to make them up, started off with a commodore set of extractors and cut them all into little pieces and started from scratch, got the fuel system all plumbed up, new heater core is in and heater hoses relocated, interior is all back together and clean, on Sunday afternoon was d day finally got to fire it up, turned the key and it sprung into life didn't miss a beat had it running for about half hour to make sure everything worked ok and so far so good just got to wait for the tailshaft and the a/c parts then all I have to do is fit the talshaft, make the a/c hoses charge the system and hopefully fingers crossed it will be finished by Monday then all that is left is to send the dash away and have it recalibrated and then engineering

Fantastic! What gains are there to be had with Individual Throttle Bodies on the LS engines, just out of curiosity?
Engine looks great in the bay.

    so what fabrication was involved?

-modifying the gearbox tunnel. what had to be done, and how did you do it?

    - with the extractors. how much of it do you have to make? everything from the engine starting with the flanges? so if you had the engine in and took it to an exhaust shop could they do it as such, or would you have to supply a basic mock up poking out the bottom so they can just weld on from underneath the car. (i cant weld at all, just wondering if its still feasible without such skills).

-engine mounts. you said you used some universal mounts modified slightly. how much modifying is involved and what was the process of doing it. test fit, cut some off, test fit, cut some more off etc?

-did anything else have to be fabricated yourself? adapters for the gearbox etc?

ive been wanting to do a v8 swap for ages now. im about a year off having the money for such a project. i have zero fabrication skills. im fine with bolting things and pulling engines and doing the wiring etc. just cant do any fab work so wondering which engine swap would be the easiest for my situation.

obviously the LS1 is the favourable option :)

thanks for any info you give. im still considering a 350cui v8 in there to minimise fabrication ;)
