    Is this

guy selling 3-5mm single leds, with a built in resistor?
As far as I know they don?t exist! The bigger style bayonet leds have built in resistors, like the ones in the brake turn and reverse lights, is that what you mean Jimmy?

    Who's Jimmy??? lol

The ones Paul was speaking of are NOT like the bayonet indicator etc types.....apparently these are new & should be a direct LED replacement for the existing dash cluster globes??.....& much brighter than many that are available out there???

get in touch with him via their website to find out more!!

    LoL

sorry its late Russ, aka Jimmy. What i was saying was the 3-5mm leds dont have resistors, like the ones jedi used in the pods, be so much easier if they did. I'm out near boronia, ill check him out.

    No probs!!!.....

yeah as I understood it he meant they will be exact replacements for the dash cluster globes BUT with inbuilt resistance to make them 12V friendly & a direct plug in....no modification needed.....so this will definitely make this LED conversion a little easier!!! :zlove:

    Russ.....

The LED's that I used for the dash also had inbuilt resistors. The only LEDs that needed resistors added were the LEDs for the pods on either side... The dash LEDs were direct replacements, no modifications required.

    Cheers

Thats awesome!! I still want to go red! Do you think for someone who's not totally technical minded could do this mod? Or would it be easier to buy the globes and get your mechanic to have a fiddle?? I go to Nissport like you, do you think those guys could do a job like this Mark?? Would hate to muff up the instrument panel!! How much do you think I'd be up for $$$?? hehe

    Thanks for any advice, Andrew

    Looks great Mark...

There's no way I have the time to do all that. Want to do mine, I'll send it up? :p ;)

All of this is DIY stuff.

The dash bulbs are easy, just twist, they come out, put new globes in. The pods arent difficult either, but time consuming.

    And red looks hot.

    Awesome write up Jedi.
Unfortunately i dont have a soldering thing, and even if i did i dont think i could be bothered messing around so much.
But if anyone finds LED's that are direct plug in to the side pods can you let us all know where to buy them from and which ones ? As i pressume noone wants to fiddle around so much if we can buy LED's with build it resistors that work at 12V.
Once again, thanks Jedi for the effort of doing this writeup:D

    painted...

I painted the centre console and some trim around the window button metallic silver to match some of the other silver bits I have in my interior.

    adriano....

yes direct LED replacements would be fine, but I think the end result would not be as good for the climate control pod as Nissan designed it to use conventional globes.... as such, one globe is used to scatter light and light up all the buttons.... not so easy with LED's and even those that are designed to scatter light, still create hot spots to a degree.... I guess it depends on how you fussy you want to be...:)

digging up and an old post.

I am thinking of doing the LED conversion however I just want to stay with the stock white colours. Jedi could you list the best LED's and how many of each I would need to do the same as you did?

Also has anyone swapped their brake lights etc for something like this http://www.superbrightleds.com/tail-brake-turn.html

    dude...

if you go to the links I posted in my original post, they will link you directly to the led's that I used... but obviously, instead of getting blue, you would get white. Easy...

Also, since writing this tech article, many members here have found alternative locations or sellers of high power leds.... at the end of the day as long as you use the right size wedge bulb for the dash, and the smaller 3mm leds with appropriate resistors for the side pods, you will be fine...

    Cheers

    ok few more q's

So there are no straight swap bulbs for the pods only the 3mm + resistor?
You can't give me a rough number of how many I need of each (before I pull it all apart),5-10-20?
If I am staying with the white would the best option be just use WLED-x5 LED Wedge Base Bulbs for all the LED straight swaps, concidering the hot spot issue with the taco etc.?

    answers...

when I bought my leds, I bought about 20 blue and 10 red.... thats way more than I needed but I bought extra incase I scrwed something up. WHich I did a few times. They are dirt cheap, so buy heaps!! Easc pod requires about 5-7 leds from memory...

as for the dash, yes, the globes you have listed will be fine...

There is also another post by me, about one week after my original post, explaianing how I fixed the hot spots. Dig it up and it will fix the hotspots problem.

    Cheers
