A small flat file works well. I like to use deoxit brand contact cleaner... its the bomb-diggity. As for the injectors, in the past i've pressed them out using a suitable sized socket over the pintle end of the injector, and pushed them out, as opposed to pulling them out with channel locks from the top... Soak them with spray, let them sit, then press them out. If they are really tight, I've rigged up a gear puller to get more force on it while pushing it thru.
Where can I get some of that stuff Mitch, Jaycar? And whats with using the Avatar of that clown from last night? lol. MoulaZX
Yep, both Brake Master Cylinder & Clutch Master have apparently been leaking for years, just slowly drizzling out the back, down the Brake Booster & Firewall Good news. Bought brand new of both and just because I can, a new Clutch Slave Cylinder lol. I'll probably sell those others off for someone else who feels confident enough to get them rebuilt. MoulaZX
Imitation is the highest form of flattery. Maybe Mitch likes me This could be the start of something beautiful
I don't know if we should let him in though? I don't think he's cool enough... That and he doesn't own sideskirts like us
Update: 'Strip & Rip' So today I resumed what I like to call 'Strip & Rip'. Something tells me Martin is gonna like this shot, lol. And the Zed parts collection / storage grow... Better shot to show what brake fluid slowly drizzling down does to paint over years... (I have no idea why, but this picture REFUSES to be rotated. Imageshack is being a bitch. As originally planned, EGR, AIV & HICAS are 100% on the 'need to go' list. So far, EGR is gone, AIV is 98% gone (still some brackets underneath I haven't pulled yet) and HICAS is about 60% out, still have the rest of the HICAS lines running to the end of the car to rip out. Empty Driver's Side under the Fender now that the AIV junk is gone. Passenger Side. The junk thats been ripped out already. This is where she was yesterday as I blasted her clean using nothing except a High Pressure Water Gun. Not a single drop of Degreaser or chemical of any sort... And these next two, I came across today. Seems even after all that, I missed some bits... MoulaZX
Every single time I walk by, and every time I make a 'deposit' into the bank of Zed... MoulaZX
LOL.....yeah but don't worry, at some point in the future you're going to have a smile from ear to ear.:br:
Yep! I'm never planning to do something on this scale ever again, so being quite picky on certain things. With any luck, engine should be ready to be dropped in / already in 1 month from now. Worst case scenario still sees the Zed back on the road before Christmas, because damn it, if it gets to that point, I have about 4-5 weeks of annual leave. 2 of those are already spoken for, but not the others. MoulaZX
Just logged into this build. WOW. Epic. Glad its you and not me. That's a large pile of parts. Hope you remember where to put them back. Great read, and looking forward to the updates. Great work
Update: Build Direction Just realized I should probably update this a bit since recent changes to the build direction. First Plan: Revised Plan: Starting to think with a good tune, this thing may even crack 400RWKW @ 22 or 24 PSI. :br: MoulaZX
Why thankye muchly. Funny thing is, I think its going to be easier (and quicker) to put it back together, then taking it apart. Taken my time pulling it apart to make sure everything has been cataloged and organized, bolts & nuts included. Then to take into account all the components removed from the Engine Bay means less chance to mess up plugging it all back up. Plenty of pictures have been taken as well, and I've been fiddling for years with these cars so fairly confident I can tell where each plug & hose goes. :zlove: MoulaZX
electrical corrosion hey just a tip for cleaning your electrical conectors. Bi carb soda and water, it desolves the green build up off the pins and then you just give them a quick scrape with a small file, dont forget to use electrical grease when connecting up. Best to use dialetic grease or something like contact grease that they use for computers and such Hope this helps, Andy
