Today we had a beach trip and for the one time i decide to drive the beast instead of drink, I get a problem.

I drove down to Yeppoon beach from Rockhampton (about 30 - 40 mins at 100km/h)
Stayed there a while. (car cooled down from drive)
Drove to Emu park (about 10 min drive at about 60-70km/h)
Stayed there a while. (car cooled down from drive)

Then on the drive back from Emu park to Rockhampton, at about 2k revs and 80Km/h my Z was missing and sputtering and the boost gauge was going stupid..

When i then got into town i then found that this would only happen at low revs whenever i accelerated.

Car's problems / things it might be:

Car is running rich (black soot on back bar)
    Car has S1PTU
Car's spark plug connectors are broken and old, Connections are clean and free of corrosion

Dad said it would probably be the car running rich an dirtying the plugs or something like that :S

What do you guys think / suggest i should do?

And here is my days driving tan for you mean pricks out there :p

It could be numerous things from minor to extreme. Did you end up getting the car checked out a while ago and getting the 100k/200k service done?

Still buying all the parts, I gota get all the parts to save ripping the engine out 3-4 times

    :(

Why on earth would you need to take the engine out?

My money is on dead o2 sensors for a starter, search in the tech section and unplug them and go for a drive, see if the hesitation clears up. As BigCol said though, could be a whole range of things.

Oh no i mean the 100k service, plenum pull, bypass, all that stuff i am gonna do in one hit.

So i can take the o2 sensors out and drive the car :S

    Ill have a gander ay..

Don't take them out unless you're replacing them with new ones BUT it's completely safe to disconnect the plug from the harness. If they ARE fubar, you may get better fuel economy as the ECU won't be getting an incorrect signal (rather, none at all and will just be using a preset fuel map) but not a replacement for new sensors. It's a simple fix if you wanna know if they're causing the flat spot.

I thought i was supposed to disconnect the sensor and drive it to see?

Work is like, walking distance. I wouldn't be driving it far.

I had a similar issue with it missing really badly..

Mine ended up being 1 poorly connected Coil pack connector, was actually worn away in the Loom.

And! The previous owner doing the bypass etc and getting all my injectors serviced forgot to put the retainers back on the injectors.. Making it so it comes loose in hot weather or going over a Vicious bump.

So at times i was missing on 2 cylinders.

    81ING I TOTALLY FORGOT!!!

    Shoulda rang you ay :(

And I initialy thought it may be my PTU, mainly because i didnt know anything else :p

Well PTU is getting replaced also, with the 100k and stuff so it might be the first thing i buy if the o2 sensors are fine and all.

There is a very small chance that the 02s are fine. You can check them with datascan, but most likely they'll be completely broken or laggy..

    Best to replace them..

Id say its a heat related failure...

Datascan is first on the list, find out which cylinders are missing
Check connections and replace plugs on those cylinders as required.
    Re check with datascan

PTU is 2nd on the list ... swap it over with a mates PTU and check for the miss again
    Fit S2 PTU regardless :D

O2's would be 3rd option... drop 1 off and check, then drop the other off and reconect the first one, again check.
If its a failed O2 this will tell you which one is fubar, leave the stuffed one disconected for the time being until 2 replacements are obtained.

Dirty AFM / MAF ... clean with a spray on cleaner as per tech section suggestions.

    ;)

I got into the car today and jiggled my dodgy connectors and one was loose so i was like SCORE! plugged it in properly and drove to work fine, left it in sun as usual and drove home with the lag and missing.

Checked connectors and they where fine :S

    So it wasnt them..
