Found this for anyone who is interested.

It's on US eBay but they deliver to Australia. Total cost is $300US + $150US postage. Which equates to $477AUS delivered.

    eBay SMIC

    Seems like a good buy...

    Cheers

Im in on a group buy on these if they are organised from a reliable forum member and it can be confirmed that they will "directly" fit on a Z without and modifation to indicators etc...

At that price, you be Sttttupppppid FFaarrrrrknnnnninnnnnnnn to not get em.

Does anyone have a set for around that price (under $500.00) that I can purchase?

Although the pics don't give too much away, they definitely look like what James was selling. Chinese manufacturing don't hold themselves to any one supplier as we have seen with many products sweep through this forum.

The only thing I disliked about them to the point I would not use them is the end tank design promoting very uneven cooling efficiency.

A set of Ashspec Monsters is on my upgrade list next.

    the james ones:
    Length: 200mm
    Height: 280mm
    Width: 90mm

pretty much match up with these ebay ones with a difference of only point something of a mill

    That's what I thought
That is also why I just ordered a set of Z1 coolers,
Although they cost more they do come with silicon hoses and clamps and are a much better design for internal flow.

    Same as James...

No worries guys...just glad to help those who want a bargain etc... :)

Ummm...I did a bit more research on them and they do appear to be the same ones James was selling in the group buy from hell last year. They are identical actually.

The difference though is in the price. James was selling for $699. These are $477. Big saving there.

I would get them but I already have ARC side mounts from Japan. And they have one of the largest flows out of all the aftermarket side mounts. They are probably my best purchase for the car in terms of rarity and performance over other products. :)

Anyway, these coolers look very good and people who don't have aftermarket intercoolers should definitely jump on these. Especially if you're planning or already have boosted your Zed.

    Cheers
    Rob. :D

Ideal if you are not seeking crazy boost increases

Not a bad cooler. I got these in my car from the group buy. You need to mod the indicator to make it fit. I used a couple of washers and some wire, it look dodgy but works fantastic, and it was easy. It also wouldnt hurt to get some ducts made, im waiting for my front bar before i do anything.

so what would you recommend? for say high flow turbos, and 17ish psi and the rest of the supporting mods.

    cheers

Ones the inlet system is presurized wouldnt air be directed through all the fins anyway?

Yes but more will be biased to the path of least resistance and having the tank the same distance from top to bottom from the core will promote majority of flow from inlet to outlet, not utilising majority of the core. The bottom of the cooler will be doing the majority of the work.

You just need to look at the end tank design of a stock intercooler to see what an efficient design looks like. Also, ducts are an absolute necesity with coolers that tall.

Currently I am using a set of coolers that have been dubbed 'The Ebay SMIC'. They are slightly larger than stock but most importantly the pressure drop is significantly less than a stock cooler. I made 273KW at only 15PSI on GT28R turbos with a very conservative tune on BP Ultimate.

I have since rebuilt my engine to handle some pretty big numbers so it only goes to reason that a cooler to handle a signifcant increase in charge air temps should be employed hence why I think the Ashspec monsters will fit the bill. We won't go into "Why don't you get a FMIC" ;)

When it comes down to a good SMIC, it really should have ducting to make it work properly which is why I got the ebay ones as the stock ducts can be used. It really depends on your budget too. Hey, these SMIC from the US will be better than stock and for what you intend to push should work well enough for what you want. Some ducting will make them work better but with their crappy and tank design, it's no wonder it says they are only rated to 400hp.

Yeah that's them. Only would I choose them over the larger ones because of having the air ducting and better end tank design. For the mods you are talking about they would be fine.

They are virtually a copy of the stock items just with a larger core.
