that sucks chris, you can still make up the mount's etc though. Why can't the thread be re-tapped?

edit, didn't see the pic- but thats still fixable

Yeah, probably fixable, but I'd rather have a unbroken one :p And now I have a spare...

Welding cast ally is a dark art, and one I'd rather not get involved in. As it is there will only be 6 bolts holding the gearbox on, not the 8-10 on the VG.

Do it right the first time. My new motto :p

    Ohhh!

VH performance cams are available from NZ! Appear to be regrinds, but much cheaper than the Mazworx ones and a big range. NZ$640 a set! Clicky Unfortunately no VG cams, but they do some real evil stuff for RB's and SR's.

Master# Dur @050deg Adv Dur ? Cam lift Valve lift

Stage 3 is looking real good  The 117's would be a little peaky :p

Well got the new VH home and spent an hour yesterday having a play :D

It appears to be in excellent condition and much cleaner than my previous one.

    No manky crap! Yay!

Looks like it had a brand new water pump before it got on the boat

Chain guides aren't broken, but I will put my new metal backed ones on just to be safe, the oil pump chain had stretched a bit too. I'll probably get the cam covers off today and check the lifters, hopefully I won't have to bleed them.

Since I don't have real power (15A or 3 phase:mad:) in the shed yet can't do a whole lot with the engine side of things for a bit. Probably change the rear suspension and pull the diff to put the LSD in.

    Got my new toy!

    Yay!

160Amp MIG that can be used for DC scratch TIG. I forgot how easy it is to MIG weld :D

Got it from these guys: Clicky

Got a bottle of argon (gasless wire is the work of the devil!) and a nifty autodarkening helmet, those things are really worth the money!

Also done a large chunk of the wiring...

It's not actually as fun as it looks :( I'm getting good with the soldering iron and multimeter though :p

I used Nick's (Npez) guide on wiring the VH into Z32. It can be found here.

Nick used a '94 US Q45 with traction control, so they are a little different to the Jap Spec pre '94 that I have. Some of the colours are different, but the ECU pinouts are the same. There is also some differences between the LHD and RHD Z32 harnesses. I have found some minor errors in the document, few very minor differences, looks like the wrong pin had been written down, nothing major.

That VH looks as clean as mine chris, mint water gallieries are a much nicer suprise than "corroded to shit"

I'm keen on those cams, Mazworks quoted me $1200US or something stupid for regrinds. I'll be looking at the stage 4 :D nothing like a lumpy V8

I've mostly finished the wiring now. Got the engine hovering over the Z with everything connected (incl fuel). The fuel pump primes, the injectors and coils do their thing when I turn the CAS so it's all looking good. Might give it a kick in the guts tomorrow and see what it does  Have to remember the ear plugs hehehe :D

Useless fact for the day: The VG CAS plug and wiring colours are identical to the VH.

    You little ripper! It works!

Bit of stuffing around and fixed up the starter wiring and grounded the engine properly. Disconnected both CAS connectors and gave it 2 cranks for 20sec to build pressure. Connected the CAS back up, quick turn of the key and it roars into life :D Then dies. Because most of the IAC and PCV lines where broken there are vac leaks all over the shop.

Got my poor little sister to crank it in the car while I played with the throttle and got it to run for 5 sec or so. Sounds mean as, proper V8 drag car sort of sounds  Scarred the shit out of the dog :p Sorry no vid, wouldn't idle and my camera batteries are flat, the engine was also bucking around a lot, even though it was tied down. Going to pull it all apart now and tape up the loom.

That's because threaded mode is for retards who can't use forums the proper way

Dunno, the adaptor will rock up this week so I can position the motor properly and design some mounts, then have to make the sump, then the extractors, then the body work, then mod plating and rego, then I can drive.

    So another few months.

just whack her in and give it a drive, you know the temptation is there :p
