basically what the titles says i thought it would have been the speed sensor so we removed it and tested it and its fine!.. so could the problem be with the speedo cluster? and as a result of the speedo not working the power steering/hicas doesn't work?
    Thanks in advance!

Almost definitely a problem with your dash cluster, this is a quite common problem and I experienced it myself.

I had an intermittent speedo, hicas, power steering and cruise control.

Replaced the dash cluster with a working one and no problems since.

It can be a problem with the solder joints on the cluster, if you have a soldering iron remove the cluster and touch up the solder joints, there is actually a guide on it in the tech section. My soldering iron just buggered up so it was easier and cheaper for me just to buy a working cluster.

    Good Luck!

I've had the exact same issue, mine was also the speedo gauge at fault.

I have a spare speedo gauge from a jap TT if you want it. PM me for more details.

A faulty speed sensor will give you this same problem. If swapping the cluster doesn't fix the problem, it's your speed sensor or a corroded connector ;)

In the first post he said he already tested the speed sensor.
