Got them in pretty easy. I made up a little tool from a pvc pipe that i used to bump them in.

Just finished up wiring in the new injector connectors and i accidentally plut a new plug on the Air Reg *facepalm*

I got it all sorted and after checking the wiring diagrams.

The injectors arnt polarity sensitive are they?

    plenum on

Got the plenum on today with a little help from Michael over the phone (thanks!). Now the tricky part, trying to figure out where everything goes. I had a few things labelled but not all of it.

I have to head off tonight so the next chance i get will be monday afternoon after work. If anyone wants to come and tell me what goes where that would be cool haha, alex? :p

Also got a chip in the mail, thanks to John. :zlove:

Looking great mate, I really like the contrast of the cam covers under the plenum. So nice to see. Can't be far off now :zlove:
You should shoot up a pic of your PVC pipe tool too :p

Finally time to write about whats been happening.

I got all the plenum pull stuff back on and the chip in. Fired it up and to cut a long story short it was running on 5 intermittently then wouldn't run on 6 at all. I tried everything i could think of and other things people suggested. Checked the coilpack connector, checked injector connector resistance. Looked at the wiring diagrams to make sure i had them all correct. Switched out coilpack 6 with 2 and the problem remained at 6. I pulled the pack and plug and checked spark. It was huge lol. Spark gap was 0.89.

So after all that i copped some pretty heavy (and unwarranted) flak from someone who i considered a friend. Totally out of the blue and has made me lose a bit of faith in the forum. Those who were on chat that night will know and cheers Cam for messaging me with some moral support.

That feeling of giving up when shit goes wrong, yea im full of that lol.

So after a bit more advice from Niall im going to do another plenum pull and check the injector o rings havnt been pinched. If theres no evidence then im dropping the old injectors back in.

I wont be able to work on it until early next week, although a few parts have arrived.

Got the new silicon hoses on here.

You have your fuel lines on backwards...

You also do not need to do a plenum pull to check for leaking o'rings...

Woah I got a mention in this :p you could have called or messaged me mate. I hope you get it running soon. Aren't we glad we didn't do MY plenum pull and injector upgrade at the same time as yours?:);)

Ah yea, the pic was taken as soon as i got most of it hooked up. I figured the fuel lines one out after checking over things with ryan haha. thanks though.

    So....

I tested and replaced all the cheap and easy things, like coilpacks, connectors, spark plugs, checked gap, resistance on plugs.

After talking to the zed guru mark iv got 2 things to try. Plenum pull tomorrow arvo to see if the fuel rail to injector gasket ring thing (whats it called?) has perished and is leaking fuel onto the plug (plug was wet when i pulled it). And then finally the injector cleaning and testing. Thats the plan for now and hopefully it should fix it.

You put new injectors in with new o'rings, they will not be perished. Unless you are talking about the fuel rail isolators, in that case they will not leak fuel as they are there to seal the lower plenum to rail from air leaks.

You have a leaking lower injector o'ring. Very likely because you used the wrong lubricant to instal the injectors.

Pressurise the fuel rail and see if it holds pressure. You can either do this on the engine or on the bench using compressed air. A plug wet with fuel is an almost dead give away to that. Also if the injector o'ring is leaking, the injector will sound inconsistant compared to the others

    Hey eric,

thanks for the reply. The fuel rail isolators is what i was talking about/had been told. Ill have to go back and double check what lube i used, i want a silicone based one correct?

I did the hearing test again and it is very inconsistent so i think your right there.

Is it ok to pull the injectors out by the little metal nibs on top of them or is there a better/more proper way?

    Matt
