Hi every one, Ive been on holiday which is why I havent been on here.I hope you all had great a great christmas, and a better new year than I did, 1st all the parties we were going to got cancelled, so we ended up sitting at home watching tv like 2 80 year olds, then at 3:30 in the morning, the husband of a (older) couple fell asleep at the wheel, came head on at a bus, who swerved to miss him and only got side swiped, then they lost control from that and ploughed head on into a tree outside our fence, he was ok because of the air-bags, but the missus broke her breast bone because of the seatbelt... What a way to start the new year.. oh well..Anyway, Im going to buy an 89 R32 GTR for myself as my daily driver, and a good car to use while the Z is being worked on, being as cheap as chips and all I figured why not, Ive always loved the R32 over all other skylines, does anyone know what pitfalls the 32GTR has, what are some things to look out for, or things that commonly break?Any help would be greatly appreciated 8D

    GTR ?..>>

Or GTS, I don't think you'll find too many good condition R32GTR's "as cheap as chips".If you do,good luck as they are a great car. R32GTS is also a good car albeit a lot less powerfull and can be found in reasonable condition for about $10/11k.They are increasing in popularity as many prefer their sleeker lines to the R33GTS which is becoming pretty common. yep the GTR

With the 15 yr thingo they can be had in reasonable condition for 15K, dont forget our Z's are coming into the 10K+ mark so 15K for a GTR isnt out of the question, I was down at IVS (where I bought my Z) and Michael (the owner) who did me a great deal on my Z can get GTR's for that much, it will only be a run around car, but also an opposite end of the scale project, Im doing everything to the Z in the most expensive fashion I possibly can, the GTR will be the complete opposite, not forgetting which the best car is :-Z Thanks for that site Wykked, ill do some searching around there :YD >D<

    Because I have 1 silly :p

It was an extremly close choice between the 32 GTR as it was, I chose the Z for its relative rarity, there are things that have never been done with a Z, things that I could do, with a car like the GTR somebody else has already done pretty much everything that can be thought of, there are millions of them all running 10's and lower, while only a handful of Z's in that territory. But since the prices are so low, its now become a "Why not?" situation, where I can own both cars, and enjoy the looks and my end level of performance (when I achieve it) of the Z, vs the instant performance potential of the GTR, arguably better wet drivability (daily driver) and a car with 2 extra seats never goes a miss :pHowever im going to have to put that corvette stingray idea on hold for a while, but ill get one of those one day too, although the driveway will be a little cramped :p

    Blipman Beer hooves totally work

You will NOT get a good GTR for 15k

At that price you are looking at the lower end of the market, and the only GTR you'll get is one that has had the living shit thrashed out of it. Believe me, a cheap GTR will have been driven HARD. You'll need to spend around 20 for something that's actually in good condition.Ben

Between 15-20K is the general idea

Im going to just rely on micheal's opinion from IVS, he has scouts that go to japan all the time, so Ill give him that bracket and just let him find something, Im not really after an immaculate example, as long as it runs ill be happy, besides warranty will cover anything that goes wrong for quite a while, and I can always rebuild/replace the engine, remember im not short on a buck ;)

    Hrmmm.. maybe..

A guy a work with bought one (r32gtr)for $14900 landed, through Geoff. It looks pretty clean, close ratio gearbox, oil cooler, SS exhaust, but stock bodywork/rims.
