  1. Tektrader

Tektrader Z32 Hoe, service me baby

at todays tech day at La Rancha Del Carrum Downs.

Thanks very much for the lunch guys. Pity I had to head off slightly early, but I think we accomplished a fair bit.

Thanks to all that attended.

  2. BigCol

    BigCol That's what she said...

Yeah thanks Pete, Jen & Family for opening your home to us all.

Was good to see some familiar faces again, and some new ones also. As for me, I had an absolute blast. One of my all time favourite techdays. Nice weather, nice people, great food, and all day hanging shit on Max. It doesn't get much better than that!

    Anyhoo, a few pics...

Me and John (Cletus) removing, cleaning, redrilling & installing our Oil Pressure Senders. They both have only been working when cold. So we decided to try this fix...

These are the only known pictures of Max actually working on Max's car...

yeah, thanks heaps Pete, Jen and all.

Was a good day as Col said. Hopefully Max has the tech article done on the Oil Pressure sender mod done :).
I myself have been inspired to write a Tech Article on how to get people do do most of your work after watching him in action.
Coming soon to a forum near you

Yes Thank you Jen and Pete.....

for hosting the tech day:thumbsup: it was a good day even when people give you shit, mostly coming from NA drivers who i think are jealous as they are missing some turbos:D

Now i will have to do a tech write-up on "how do get other people to do work on your car"

I did do a few things on the day like installing boost jets in Tims(Baroo) car....he can verify this.
Did a comp test on 1 cylinder with Graham(Tektrader69) and also fitting my NISMO side indicators with the help of Colin(BigCol).

All in all it was a good day like always. Plus i also did alot of photography!

    Max:thumbsup:

    WYKKEDS's tech day (pics)

In Vic, the Queens birthday weekend should be renamed the "WYKKED tech day" weekend since it seems to coincide quite nicely on this weekend each year (well, at least the last 2 years).. :)

Anyway, slowly slowly zeds started to trickle into the driveway (and lorn) of casa del WYKKED
    [IMG]

Pete wanted to make sure that everyone knew why they were here. So he hung the aus300zx banner in his car port :)

Although we cant all fit into petes driveway, we do a good job at taking over the street
    [IMG]

Red32 would like to point out that although silver zeds may have panties thrown at them, red zeds are notorious for getting some pussy............ as evident by the cat foot prints on his bonnet.....

Here's trouble.... Rob and Col finally decide to turn up...:)

Anyway, after some chit chat it was time to do some work... I lost track of what specific jobs were being done, but I heard murmurs of "O2 sensors", "OPS", "ConZult" ..... the usual tech day affair...

This is me trying to pull apart my mirror and put it back together....

Pete, if you're reading this, somewhere in the red circle are 2 little gold screws... couldn't find them, lucky I had spares... but hey, just though you should know.. :)

Yes that's Max in the background being a tool.... :)

Let me introduce you to Grahram (tektrader69). Top bloke, willing to do anything for you and very knowledgeable on stuff in general..... but strong is he in the dark side.... He works fast, swears lots, groans like a wild boar when things aren't going his way and scares the pants off newbies who watch in terror as he starts pulling stuff off their zed.... :) But hey, he gets the job done..... :) He managed to get some NA hardpipes on in record time I think after lots of groans and swearing.....:)

Also did a good job on Sally's NA by getting rid of some useless pipes (leftovers from stock airbox). They had somehow encountered water and all the clamps etc had rusted and seized.... But they were no match for grahams dark powers...:)

Unfortuneatly he had to leave early. This is Jenny (his better half) looking very proud while reversing the zed :)

Bigcol leaving some arse dents on his bonnet... :)

Not sure what Redzedmikey was doing......

But I think it had something to do with this. Some bling bling for coilpacks...

And later replacing one of his binnacles
    [IMG]

Funny caption anyone?? That's graham in his zed, with WYKKED on the ground...

Cletus and Bigcol thought they would try the recent mod of drilling a larger hole in their OPS and see if that would stop the irregular function of the unit that we all know and hate..

We're an efficient bunch in Melb.... 3 people to jack up a car :)

"Look dad, I can stand on 2 wheels"

A bit of drilling, and then some cleaning.. Apparantly it worked for Cletus, but no improvement on BigCols zed...

Ewwwww, stock airbox...... piss that thing off....

Lunch was served, and what a great lunch it was... The weather was actually quite nice so what better time for a BBQ.... Thanks to the girls for the cooking..:)

    After lunch, back to work....
Pete was being the over used mechanic for the day, jumping from one car to the next, while being asked for a variety of tools...

Dangerous and WYKKED doing some Conzult analysis, vacuum leak tests and removal of old pipes on sally's nice NA..

    Spot the difference....

Zxtt-1's car alarm.... For record sake, BigCol is the only forum member (except for jack of course) to have successfully patted little sam without getting his hand chewed of...:)

Max's job for the day was to 1) take photo's while I was busy (max you need some more lessons on use of my camera cos a lot of pics turned out blurry), and 2) to fit some clear NISMO side indicators...

The difference between lenses... The top one is the standard orange lens. The middle is my clear NISMO modified one. The bottom one is what the NISMO's look like without modifications. Notice the difference in socket between the top and bottom? To get the wiring loom connector to fit, you have to melt 2 extra notches on the plastic on the NISMO lens to get the old wiring loom socket to fit... (this info for the newbies)

Max did that with a soldering iron...

"oh my god max, you've screwed it up"

"ahhh, story of my life, I just cant seem to get it in the hole"

Poor dave (Dangerous)... every time he turns up to a tech day in melb, he ends up being the electrical guru and removing a load of useless wires and gizmo's that once served a purpose and now no longer function, or fixing up someone else's electrical botch job....

In this case, it was the removal of some beeping nasty in sally's car that ended up being some sort of auto-start device which the previous owner had installed, but hadn't given her the remote...

Blipman turned up eventually in his Sky80
    [IMG]

He was delayed by the car overheating and therefore constantly needing to stop and fill up the radiator with water.... Lucky he was going to a tech day, this small hose being the culprit....

You'd think his sky80 was made in the US (note the US flag)... Notice the empty coke bottle in the passenger foot well?... the make great water containers :)

Believe it or not, we even fit in a small cruise. We all left WYKKED's house and headed for Arthur's seat in Dromana... it was fun, except maybe for Sead who's clutch master cylinder decided to die, leaking fluid everywhere :)

Being the long weekend, we had a run in with the boys in blue. No nasties for us, but they had decided to set up a booze bus on a small 2 lane road heading out of Dromana. And so, the zed convoy got breathalysed :) Wonder what they thought when they saw the noisy convoy approaching (bad pic I know but you can see the blue and red disco lights in the background)

All in all it was a fantastic day. Great to meet new faces, and catch up with the old ones :) Thanks again to pete and jen for hosting another great tech day :)

    Please note: To view pics....

I'm hosting my pics on a Monash uni server, and its bloody stupid... anyway, to view the pics, it will ask if you trust the security certificate.. click yes... or even better, install the security certificate otherwise it will bug you for every single pic. To install, click on "view certificate" and you'll find an install button... it will not harm or be any threat to your computer..

    Cheers

    Thanks to everyone!

As a newbie to the zed scene, this was my first tech day. I must say, i was awestruck by the knowledge you guys have!!

I owe a big thank you to WYKKED, Dangerous & Tektrader69. Thanks to WYKKED for running the vaccum test, Tektrader69 for ripping out a heap of pipes (man i was scared!), and Dangerous for running a ConZult test, fixing my power steering and most importantly, finding the source of that bloody beep!!!

My car ran like a dream on the trip home. I thought things were perfect! Unfortunately though, it rained in Ballarat again today, and so my car played up again. So it looks the water filled pipes weren't the source of my problems after all. The mystery remains!

Thanks again for the day. I've learnt a lot about my car, and it was great to finally put some faces to names. I look forward to the next cruise!
