Your choice of brand and type (synth vs mineral) is, but the viscosity far less so. I use AGIP religiously, but Penrites a decent brand, so is Castrol, and so is basically every major supplier of synthetic oils.

Run it too thin and you'll have increased wear and start pushing it past seals. VG clearances are too high unless built lower. Run it too thick, which is what has fired up the masses, and you'll put undue pressure on your oil pump, increase pressure in the oil system and have all the joys of potential damage increased oil pressure can bring.

Higher weights than what the manufacturer stipulates are not a bad idea in the case of an older engine. Clearances are higher than spec and it'll give you some extra protection, but not too much higher.

:agree: and to date mine does not drip a drop of oil .No lifter noise quite as and had her out to day.I just love the Z32 TT and so does the main street.:rolleyes2::br::zlove:

First thing you have posted(that I can fully agree with). We all experience that envious appreciation(regardless of whether we are using the correct viscosity oil, or not..):zlove::br::rofl:

The weight you've specified is higher...thinner weights will seep past seals.

Too heavy a viscosity like you use will put higher stress on your oil system and reduced flow to the bearings, and there's no cause for it. Not having a crack, and if you want to continue with a 60 weight oil, then go for it.

Also, under Penrites spec section on their website, it says:

And Nissan specifies a 10W30 or if you have heat issues, then a 20W40.

If you love your car as you so obviously do, drop the oil and use the correct viscosity for your engine.

I use same in my VP V6 Commodore been 2 years with it and runs at 65 70 psi hot, just saying. There was a time she lost all psi drove her till lifters failed .Had a bit of gasket blocking pick up.Any how thinking she was stuffed put same oil in as my Z its been 2 years now and she is sweet as ever.Lot of good luck there :br:

With 100% PAO oil the "they all use the same base" stops being true, assuming well formulated that stuff is absolutely superior in terms of high temperature stability and shear stress. Whether or not you're actually subjecting the oil to those conditions is still a relevant question though. Track work in a Z with standard-ish cooling and oil cooler does push temps a lot and if not changing the oil every track day then I probably would bank on PAO oils (or rather I used to, for that purpose) with an upgraded cooler now I don't bother though.

Pootling around town in a show car it's pretty redundant though, except I guess if the engine is quieter with it which mine seemed to be at the time.

And kindly alert us(Z32 Owners)to just how, any of the above diatribe has ANY RELEVANCE to our NISSAN Z32 300ZX TT's.

Well my missus is a psychologist and she thinks this.
    and i quote
" People with narcissistic personality disorder are characterized by their persistent grandiosity, excessive need for admiration, and a disdain and lack of empathy for others. These individuals often display arrogance, a sense of superiority, and power-seeking behaviors. Narcissistic personality disorder is different from having a strong sense of self-confidence; people with NPD typically value themselves over others to the extent that they disregard the feelings and wishes of others and expect to be treated as superior regardless of their actual status or achievements. In addition, people with NPD may exhibit fragile egos, an inability to tolerate criticism, and a tendency to belittle others in an attempt to validate their own superiority"

    In a nutshell :br:
