the other day. After checking the underneath of the car they said both ny turbos were leaking oil and my front main seal was leaking.
I didnt know it had a front main seal and how can you check for leaks on the turbos?

Let it idle for about 10 minutes on a

slab of concrete (your garage) and turn it off, let it stay there all night and then move it in the morning and observe whats on the floor in relation to where your turbos were previously. That should tell you where the leaks are. I have a small leak coming from the front of the engine but as long as it doesnt get too much it can stay rather than me part with huge sums of money!regards John:cool:

Thanx John. Do you reckon that leak from....

the front of your engine is the main seal? I thought we only had a rear main seal. :s

There is definitely a front seal...

...see page EM-49 to see location

I too have a small leak at the front of the

engine where the harmonic balancer is. Funny thing is the seal was replaced when the Underdrive pulley went in 3mths ago. Not to mention I also have new cam sealsBUT...
Question is, is there somewhere else that engine oil can come out from the front of the engine? Glad this post came up b/c this leak at the front of engine has been pssng me off for 3 months now, esp. as seal is new!
How likely is that the oil is comming out of the front of the sump? I tried to tighten the front sump screws but they were already tight!
Checked pwr steering and no leaks.
    This is a classic

    Its possible one of the.....

....new seals has failed, all it takes is a scratch to one of the surfaces during the install, or improper fitment. The only thing to do though is thoroughly clean all oil off the engine so you can look for fresh leaks and trace their source.

    Replacing the front seal

can be a bit of a sod as there is rather a large step on the crank that gets in the way. If one is not careful replacing the seal it may be damaged during the install. Not to hard to do, just fiddley. So stop putting it off fellas!

Thanks guys, the leak is definately from the

    crank seal.
A little dissapointing though as the damn thing is new, looks like it may have got damaged during installation.ThanksPeter
