300ZX lovers. Since HyperGear and ATR25s are no longer strangers on this forum, I like to officially start this build up thread on our own 300ZX evaluation car. It helps us in further Turbo researches based on VG30dett motor and creates a guide line for our current and future customers. This is a build up thread, you are welcome to add in your inputs. Please do not post trade related question or any abusive comments. Some back grounds on ATR2x This project started towards mid of 08. The key is to build high powered T2x turbochargers for direct bolt on applications. During past 12 month we've finalized our ATR28s which has bought us huge successes in SR and RB (with custom T3 housing) turbocharger markets. The 300ZX which I personally imported for this evaluation has been held till yet due to numerous problems which mostly fixed. This is a 1990 Model Nissan 300zx TT manual. 19/07/2009: The engine is going to come out this weekend: and on the same time. My intercooler kit has arrived from HK. Hopefully it fits as the seller descript. I've also received the dump and front pipes from Npower. Turbo wise I'll build my self a pair of 62T 320HP ATR25. Which is identical to a GT2860RS in sleeve bearings. Tested in a .64 T28 with .60 comp it has produced 236rwkws single in a CA at 1.3Bar. Obviously smaller housings would affect performance. I'm hopping to see about 330rwkws with act of Nistune ECU plus fuel related mods. I'm still looking for a good clutch kit with fly wheel, plus 2x engine mounts. if any one's got any recommendations please let me know.
Good to see Hypergear! Glad that you're doing a VG30 engine with your turbos as this will definately give people the confidence in your turbos for our cars and i think you'll sell a lot here providing these turbos show good results in the dyno figure. The sooner you get these fitted and post dyno results the better i think. And if this turbo kit gives over 300rwkw with decent dyno curves, i'll seriously consider ordering a set off you!
I have just finished putting the 320hp turbos on my car and they are looking good so far. I have them running at about 16-17 psi but I am yet to tune it properly. The turbos have a bit more lag than the factory ones but I dont think it is too much of a problem. Power wise they perform a LOT better than factory. I will post a write up after I drive it a bit more but it is definitely looking good!! Cheers Jason
Good to hear jason, Hopefully I'll be able to give the 300hp versions a good wrap once i get mine set up and tuned properly as well
I just went to UAS website, couldn't find any engine mounts, were/are they selling OEM mounts or aftermarket?
your running 16-17psi but haven't tuned it properly...... yeah I've done that before, made the engine go pop, be careful as you may have lean mixtures and if so will get detonation at those boost levels and could pop your engine.
Thanks for the feedbacks and support every one. My Engine is out today. Not too happy with the amount of rust that is in it. There are chucks of rust ball feels like wet mud all over water delivery system. any one has experience with rust cleaning?
Yes I am not retarded please keep these comments to yourself. This was a turbo review post only. Cheers Jason
we need to see some feedback on the 300hp versions. Have none of your customers got them set up and dyno'd yet?
I'll post my feedback when complete I purchased these turbos a while back but got delayed in my project with some RTA issues. I'll be installing the 300hp version with the following supporting Mods Haltech PS2000 Nismo 555 injectors Upgraded SMICS 3" twin exhaust The projects moving slowly but should hopefully have some results in a couple of months
Some updates. Just finished my turbo's CHRA. You can compare the wheel sizes and types to the stock T25. Ordered a Xtreme clutch kit from Race Brakes with lightened flywheel for tomorrow morning. Cost $1200 Engines mounts pickedup today from Nissan. Cost $600.
