    HID System Technology

High Intensity Discharge lighting generates light by creating an electrical discharge between two electrodes, the system is based on the gas and electrical discharge principle, formed and sustained within arc tube filled with metal salts and inert gases that are hermetically sealed in a composed of the Arc tube and Ballast for arc ignition and sustenance of electric supplement in which have PCB control system built in.

    Advantages

    Light out put performance :
    - At least 70% more light than traditional lamp which is yellowish in colour
    - High efficiency system halogen alternative and 92 lumens per watt compared to 18 lumens per watt for a halogen lighting source.
    - Blue / White light is safer than filament type lamp because it is closer to natural daylight beam ( 4500-8000K )

if you have any questions or would like to buy a set please post here

    thanx Dave

If people are going to buy these....

then please take a moment to read this page so you know a bit about what your buying. Check state laws because without the optics (which is the half the basis of the benefit of HIDS) these can be extremely blinding to traffic and dangerous.

    Legal

Zisluv does this mean your car is legal? I will see what I can find out re this. It is one thing to be technically illegal and another to be aprob as there are many laws not enforced and depends if it is blinding as you say and comes under notice.
They are much better vision and safer for a car that has probably the worst lights for any car on the road. Many of the new cars have HID or Xennon lights as they ar so much better and safer. This is factory and purpose made so may be a little different. Re blinding I don't think so, but will find out as only fitted to car during the day and did not get to test and it was not a zed. I am sure it is better and safer and more legal than many who use 100w super white globes rather than the factory low beam 55w.

    Blipman Beer hooves totally work

I believe the laws relate to

HID lights having some sort of auto leveling system, so that if the rear of the car is weighed down, pointing the nose up, the headlights automatically angle down to counter this.
As John says, legality and being within the spirit of the law (ie not dangerous) are two different things and a fine line many of us here walk, but it is something people should at least be aware of.

Did you read the faq John?

HIDs are up to 4 times brighter and 10 times more intense light. These are a bit different to 100w globes which as you even said can be dangerous to oncoming traffic. With a retrofit like this, because the housings (and optics) are not designed for HID globes then there are no distinct cutoffs in the light pattern like a true HID to keep it below the level of an oncoming driver and the effect is just like putting a 300w globe in. I mean after all thats all the kit is, a brighter lightbulb essentially.

As Ben said, there is a difference between something being technically illegal (like a pod without a permit) and being dangerous. I just want people to realise what they are buying by doing some research for their own first and making up their own minds. I wouldnt want people spending $500 and only earning a defect notice for it (potentially) without knowing what they were getting.

Maybe you can take some photos similar to the ones in the faq (against a garage door) so we can see how the stock housings disperse the light, and maybe some front on ones so people can see for themselves prior to buying. Just a suggestion. After all, the sites I have seen these on all state strictly for off road use, so being a business you may open yourself up legally by recommending these for road use if people have problems with them.

    Having pulled my headlights.....>>

Apart to clean them I can attest to the fact that they do have the cut-offs installled and I am confident that were I to install the kit in my car I could achieve the patterns displayed in the article. I get them now with my current globes, and since they are part of the projector I can't see any reason why that would change.

Personally I'm not going to spend the money as with clean well adjusted lights fitted with a good 100w globe I consider them adequate.

    Depends what you call adequate...

Having to do a fair bit of country driving Im not a big fan of our current low beams, even clean and with good bulbs. They are fine when on well lit roads but make me a bit nervous on country roads when Im trying to keep an eye out for roos. I think HIDS are great, just a pity they are so expensive for what they are.

Having had a look at the cutoff tonight on the standard optics I think Id agree with you, they look pritty good. I guess we just wait for John to supply some pics and see what sort of glare these give off.

I was driving on a normal road at night

and I was like "CRAP BOTH MY HEADLIGHTS HAVE BLOWN" I couldn't see a damn thing. Well they were on, but didn't do a good job at lighting the road in front of me. (I have aimed them higher so its not as bad, but still not as good as any of my friends on cheap stock dull yellow beams)

Count me in. :) I like

    Waiting for info

I think my supplier is OS as not replying to my emails at the moment. They are coming out of Singapore directly to us now so the price will even be less. I am waiting on a H3 kit to fit to a zed and yes we have a candidate in Sydney and will get the facts and tests. I will check out the legality and the potential problem if any with points raised. Hopefully all good and might be the solution to the big prob zeds have with lights.
PS After spending around $20K with engineers reports and legal fees etc I had to put a disclaimer on our site and on our receipts etc as per below. I like to keep my kids and wife in our nice house in Castle Hill.

All products on this site are intended for race or off-road use only, and it is the owner's responsibility to be aware of the legalities of fitting these products in his or her state/territory regarding noise, emissions and vehicle modifications.

    HID kits

    Hi,

what's the status of this group buy at present? The price sounds good to me, and the suggestion that these lamps give a good beam in other headlamps suggests they will do the job in a Z. If the buy is still open I'm interested...;)

I'm cleaning my lights in the next couple of weeks, and it's a good time to think about better lamps.

    Cheers,

Carefull if using H4 type lamps!

If you use the H4 type of lamp please take note that the HID is only on the lo-beam filament. There is a 100W Blue QI lamp attached for the high beam. Means that you would not get the expected 3000? hr life due to the QI quitting before 500 hrs making the HID section useless.
