It's detrimental when you when you kick the rear out and it still tries to steer as it's a dumb speed based system. The early hydraulic HICAS is also prone to leaks as you got the steering fluid travelling from the engine bay to the rear of the car. Overly complex system. The early Z32 and R32 version of HICAS is worth removing for the weight savings and added predictability. The later electric HICAS is much easier to disable, just pull a fuse and test the difference yourself. The R33 and R34 GTR HICAS systems were a bit smarter as they apparently judge your intentions by looking at all the feedback from steering angle, yaw sensors etc which the Z32 does not have: https://www.skylineowners.com/forum...s/116708-rears-steering-guide-hicas-sort.html so electric HICAS in GTRs are probably worth retaining just to keep the resale value up and it doesn't seem to interfere as much.
