Hi I have a pair of aus spec fog lights with the signals in them and want to wire them up them on my us spec 300zx.

I have see pictures awhile ago of them with hids in them and wanted to know if you can post some pictures with the hids. Is there a how to so I can see how you went about installing them? Also does anyone have a youtube video of how the lights work so I can see how they are suppose to function when installed? I think the right light is on all the time and the amber one only lights when blinkers are on? I?m not to sure please let me know so I can get it setup.

    Thank you

Do you mean the clear/white light is on all the time, rather than right light?
I presume you are referring to the front bar indicators which were used in Aus-spec sold new at dealers here, and replaced the fog lamps in some of our J-spec grey imports.

Any internet reference to the right light being on all the time is probably a reference to the REAR fog light, which is a high intensity red fog lamp used in Aus-spec and Euro-spec Zeds.

The Aus-spec front units pictured below are a parker light + indicator unit; in no way a fog lamp, and the plastic lens wouldn't transmit light like a fog lamp. Both L & R clear lights come on when you turn the headlight knob 1 click, and the amber indicators/blinkers work with the corner mount ones.

    Hope this helps.

Also I have seen it before on here but cant pull it up that someone put hids in the clear part or some part or maybe they were bight leds i dont know but i cant find th pictures now. Do you know of the mod im talking about it looked good and thats why i bought them like 2 years ago after i saw his setup.

I think you'll find that the HID mod was only used in Jspec Fog Lights(by some people who mistakenly believed that it would transform them in to Driving Lights). The white light segment on these Auspec units are only Parking Lights.

In Australia, we generally ditch the AUS-Spec lights for J-Spec, and it's a "Must-do" for a HID upgrade.
You could never do a HID retrofit into an AUS-Spec lens.

With the J-Spec units, when you remove the fog light from the car, the housing comes apart into 2 pieces.

You need to drill a hole through the rear most half to accommodate the wiring, and the rest is just basic square peg in a square hole etc.
    Once apart you'll see :)

The J-Spec fog light is the easiest of the 6 main front lights to convert on the Z IMHO, as you can easily remove the fog lights from the car and do it on the bench :)

Bear in mind, that the ultra whiteness etc of the HID will render the fog-lights as useful as tits on a bull in fog, but it nicely fills the gap between the lows and the highs creating a blanket of light on the road ahead during most conditions.

while they wont be as bright as the jspec fogs due to the front lens u could allways pull the auspec one apart and get rid of the separator and turn it into a fog light...
