....My computor has been attacked by a browser hijacker called coolwebSearch. Despite firewalls,virus checkers, spyware blockers, this program hijacks the browser, whenever I try to access this site, and goes to a search page, with pop-ups of ads saying my computor is infected, and download their spyware checker (as if). I use lavasofts adaware, which detects the program, and quarantines them, but next time I try to access this site, rhe same thing happens. It appears they have written somthing to my computor, that re activates the program, but which the adaware program doesnt reconize. I am sending this from a internet cafe, and any help would be greatly appreciated, before I.. a) Smash my computor into very small peices, or... b)Embark on a world wide hunt for the prick that wrote the program, cut off his nuts, and ram them down his throat! I use Spybot search and destroy free D/L from download.com. This finds, deletes and protects against this particular one. What's prob happening is your adaware is deleting the program from disk ok but becuase its still resident in memory (sometimes visible in processes view of task mgr) it reinstalls itself. Would also go to trendmicro.com and use their free online scan. You can also search for the virus and get instructions on how to delete this usually is a combo of deleting the file, then removing it from taks mgr etc... I would also get yourself a free firewall like sygate.com personal... better than nothing!!!
