Really mate, that's not good news. What is the max you can take of TT heads.
Supposedly they are from a low km jap half cut engine. The bores look great no signs of wear, you can still see the hone marks.

they may be off a low kay engine but look to me as they have have been done twice in the past. not that it really matters though i suppose for a stock motor.

you jsut wouldnt be using them if you were going to throw thousands at the top end in upgrades

Machining process vid, you can see the tool removing the corroded area around the water galleries which caused the failure.

Heads assembeled and ready to go back on, just waiting on gaskets.

Decided to do a plenum water hose bypass while I was in there, before and after shots.

Son of a bitch. Wish I'd seen this before I got the motor down to the heads and stuck getting turbos and manifolds off.

    sorry to thread jack

Jus had my head gasket go too, (mayo on the dipstick thanks to silly ebay kit) planning to get an oem gasket set from CZP, hearing a few things but when my motor was apart a year or so ago bearings and all were ok. Is it alright just to pull the motor out, machine the heads and do a couple quick oil changes to flush it out, or do i really need to tear down the entire motor, new rings etc if they're alright?

Are you telling us that you changed the gasket one year ago?
You should do the rings. You should check the new noises, but they may be the coolant boiling and steam pressure building up. Are those noises still there if you loosen the oil cap to let steam out?

yup new rings & high flowed turbos a year ago, ran great till mandatory E15 killed the injectors. Swapped em out for S2 injectors 3 wks ago, ran great once more, did an oil change on Saturday, nothing other than dirty oil, went to the drags on Sunday did a couple passes no problem, last pass dropped cylinder 5, temp started shooting up pretty quick, let it cool, checked the radiator it was a little lower than what it had been that morning, checked the dipstick, milky oil. Tow truck. Will do a comp test; but was curious what the stages would be for a not-spending-more-than-i-have-to fix would be.
