have any aus300zx members been banned today??

was having a chat to Zisluv tonight and it appears he cant log onto the forum... he keeps getting:

"Login Error

This user's account has been disabled"

to me, it sounds like he has been banned.... he hasnt recieved an email saying that he has been banned or why.... so im just wonding if anyone else got this error today?

One would have thought, that at least an explanation would of been common courtesy.

Two members have been suspended for two weeks following repeated abuse of the forum over a long period of time. They both should have received emails advising them of the situation. The timing was not the best I admit, it was supposed to happen 24 hours earlier but didn't. The two members will be back, and hopefully they will return with a slightly better attitude towards their fellow forum members.

 

Is it possible?

...to put someone on moderation?
If they bend the rules too much the moderators can then put a person on moderation and this means all of their posts are screened by a moderator prior to them hitting the forum.
And if there is anything unpleasant in the slightest in their posts it's simply trashed. (the whole thing not just the digs)
If this means they have to wait a few hours for their posts to appear sometimes so be it.
Just an idea.

 

Bit harsh...

WE all know there are a couple of (several) members who are always argumentative, and sometimes are even abusive, usually towards each other. I find I am quite capable of self-censoring these members posts, while still gleaning useful bits of information from them.

However there are a couple of other members who are sometime quite OFFENSIVE, without being informative or constructive. The thing about an offensive post is that you have to read it on order to find that it IS offensive, and then it is too late to self-censor!

I would prefer that action be taken against offensive posts rather than merely argumentative (occasionally abusive) posts, after all, the purpose of a "Forum" is open discussion, which may occasionally become somewhat heated, but should never be offensive.

Valid point however, please consider that...

...our moderators all have jobs, family, friends and lives (away from their computers). Id hate to think we were taking up more of their time for the free service they already provide us.

I think its about time we all just got back to what we are here for,the

I am going on holidays for until 3rd Jan and know at least the forum won't go down hill whilst I am away.
I know other forums I participate in don't have half the crap that goes on here. There is no perfect solution but I think necessary to do something for the benefit of the majority. Hopefully next year there will be less flexing of ego's and kicking of cats.
Also Lou this is why there should be moderators in each state I submit like other forums. A. to have it more balanced and B. to broaden the work load. Constructive feed back such as calling a business supplying zed parts expensive and had problems there and why and try here is one thing, but a "rip off and dodgy" in general is something else.

All the crap that goes on must consume a hell of a lot of their time already.
If one has been put on moderation they can wait till our moderators have time to deal with their posts. (if they have to wait 24 hours or even longer for their posts to be reviewed that's part on the punishment and may teach them not to constantly cause trouble)
Just my opinion, but I reckon 99% of the trouble can be nipped in the bud before it becomes a shit fight.
I just don't like people being suspended or banned, it creates more bad sentiment.

Suspended from HELPING newbies and us less knowledgeable members from the benefit of their experience with this great car, CHILI and ZISLUV, I consider are senior members here, between them there has been aprox 7500 posts and not to mention they have spent way over $ 150.000 on their ZEDS, now I call that 'experience' I'm sure you guys agree.
Now, who is being Punished here, CHILI and ZISLUV or the rest of the ZED family??? I for one have learnt a shit load from both SUSPENDED members

Whay you say is true - but

from time to time, those people that run things from multi million dollar big ticket footy clubs to small tiny dollar forums, unfortunately find it necessary for punitive actions to be taken.

An analogy - there has been more than one football club that has had to suspend its own players mid-season for actions deemed contrary to the good of the club. This is usually to the detriment of the club, and its supporters as well as the suspended - but it happens. Those concerned ususally come back prepared to toe the line and make up for what they have cost their club.

Now you have said, and I quote "I know of one member who will not be back!!" and I can only hope this is an over-reaction in the heat of the moment. It should always be remembered that no one individual is greater than an organisation as a whole; and if people are asked to moderate the tone of their posts, or not be drawn into silly arguments with no end, and then continue in the same vein; this is the result.

It is unfortunate that after overs 4 years of this forum's existence there has finally been a suspension (as opposed to self-imposed exiles), but such is life. I sincerely hope that those suspended members return to the forum and will continue to inform us of their mods, arrange or attend cruises and/or events, and put this past them.

 

RZM, I hear you buddy, but this is an open discussion Forum and.....

unlike footy players we dont get paid for any input, in other words The suspended cannot be hurt by a suspension but the rest of us can, at least give them the right to defend themselves (like footy players) before tossing them out on XMAS day like garbadge :thumbsdown:

Dunno what you have heard from Nathan,

but Lloyd has told me he WON'T be back! As argumentative as he is, he feels that he has been "victimised" just once too often, and, as much as he regrets losing contact with the friends he has made via this forum, has decided that he is better served by going elsewhere.

This is a really sad day for this community, when one of its longest-serving members feels that he is no-longer welcome.

Who's saddened by the decision to suspend both Chili and Zisluv.
I think it was heavy handed and unecessary,and the decision to do it on Christmas day i find most unpleasant, I can imagine the sour taste their food and drink must have had to it as they tried to enjoy a day of celebration.
Regardless of what we think of Chili and Zisluv, it is a public forum, and while there are disagreements debate will take place.
Do we suspend the Prime minister and the opposition leader from parliment because of their lively debates?
I don't know about Zisluv, but i hope the decision by Chili never to return is a heat of the moment one,although i don't think so, because i for one will miss his involvment, contribution, and knowlege of all things Zed.

They had been warned not to reply to each others posts yet they couldn't resist so action had to be taken to shut their traps. I for one got sick of reading their shit fights and I think the forum will be a better place without it. If chilli wants to be a "BigKid" (pun intended) then so be it and it's his loss for being so childish.
