Both of you need to get crackin on your build threads! Always enjoy seeing updates on these two cars.

He doesn't want Regs. Think he is after some Volks. I don't know of any BBS LMs on an Aus Zed though. They're damn nice wheels too.

^Oi no cracking the whip on us until you pull your finger out & start your own build thread!

Gtc's would be an excellent choice & worth hunting for. Could always import via streeter? Cr Kai's are also a great looking wheel though, considered ame tm02's? Look amazing with a bit of concave.
Seen a couple Zeds with lm's, redzedmikey has a gold set of 17's for his red zed, super clean look.

My updates have certainly slowed down pace since the thread was initially started.

I placed a bid on a full turbo back Veilside exhaust via Streeter on yahoo auctions. Sadly I was pipped at the post with a late bid in the final minutes.

The forged EP Racing engine was collected recently & hopefully a new build thread will happen in the near future as a result. It will be a very impressive Z.

Sad days, last photo of the slicktop and the fresh engine side by side.

I also did some more wire tucking. I rerouted the wiring to the connectors beside the brake booster and hid them under the booster. I also installed a plenum cover I had hibernating in a box of spare parts.

    Gah!
Still has the dreaded clutch hydraulic "damper" (pipe to nowhere that actually does nothing) line fitted cluttering up the drives side inner guard!!!

Remove that useless monstrosity of a woftam Jono and your looking goooood-er!!!

Was that you offering to remove the clutch bleeder for me? Thanks! :D
I assume you've removed it from your own Z?

    Mine is still there temporarily.
Ive got a new braided slave line to go in. When i get around to that ill pull that pesky pipe to nowhere out of mine. I forgot to do it last time it was up in the air.
Easiest fix, apart from replacing the entire clutch line with a braided job is to just remove that pipe from the T-piece down on the chassis rail and wind in a threaded bung.

Just need to know if the thread is BSP or that funky metric pipe thread for a bung.

that would have been awesome! saw that listing, first time I've ever seen a full turbo back for a 2+0 for sale.

Just a little cosmetic update, I installed some Z1 chrome gauge rings. I haven't seen them used on a series 6 cluster before. It breaks the white dials and black surround nicely.

I removed the bonnet to do a few little jobs. No real updates but thought I'd dump/share the pics here anyway.

A few weeks ago before Easter it was a beautiful weekend and a friend and I decided to take the toys out for a spin. A good hour into the drive as I was stopping at an intersection I noticed smoke escaping from my bonnet vent.

After a quick roadside inspection I noticed a oil leak from up high was burning and smoking as it hit the right hand side turbo. So I limped her home and she sat in the garage for a few days till I had time off to start the strip down.

I was a little shocked at the amount of oil dripping from the underside of the engine/gearbox.

Typically a lot of the coil-pack connections were fubar and cracked/snapped when unplugging.

Still one of the most painful parts of a plenum pull, unplugging these connectors without breaking them.

It took me longer than normal to get the plenum off, but I was taking my time not to damage/miss anything.

It was obvious the plenum had never been off since the car left the factory.

The back of the RHS head had clear signs of oil getting past the original silicon.

Burnt oil/sludge is never a nice sight, but to be expected from a 15 year old car. The cam lobes look to be in good condition. I intend to run some engine flush through the motor once it's operation.

I decided not to go all OCD while I had it apart, but to simply give the parts a quick clean/tidy and do some preventative maintenance. All the rubber hoses are being replaced with black silicon hoses.

Under plenum coolant hoses have been deleted. I also gave the throttle bodies a clean and polished the springs (before and after illustrated). Though they will just oxidase again over time.

I also took the time to p!ss off some of the coolant hard-lines. This one pictured is a pain and gets in the way when installing the RHS VTC solenoid. So I cut the brackets holding it in place and will run a new hose to connect it to the RHS turbo.

New o-rings installed and ready to go back in (once intake valve covers are installed).

It's not a plenum pull unless you have parts all over the garage. More clean parts waiting to be re-installed.

More parts that have been cleaned by hand. No painting or coating this time around. Attempting to keep the car as original as I can.

In transit from the US are new gaskets, crush washers, BDE half moons, new coil pack connectors and a few other small parts that all add up very quickly. When they arrive I'll start to button her up again.

Great to see an update Jono! & you've inspired me, polished throttle body springs it is.
    Good luck with re-assembly!

It took a while due to not having a lot of down time, but the plenum pull is done.

Here are a few pics I took during the process.

    Valve covers installed.

I used Mackay heater hose to do the under plenum bypass with.

You can use the standard clamps, but it is a tight fit & a bit fiddly.

Crappy pic, but I finally installed the braided clutch line I've had for years. I used some silicon hose to shield it and stop it chaffing.

Plenum back on & I replaced the broken coil pack connectors with new ones.

All back together with all new fuel hose, coolant hose & silicon air hoses. But of course not without issue(s), I still have an oil leak but it appears to be a new one. Initial leak was causing smoking from the RHS turbo. The leak I have now is still at the back of the engine, but on the left hand side. I believe I have narrowed it down.

I removed the VTC solenoids and re-sealed them during the plenum pull. There was no sign of either leaking, but while laying under the car with a torch this morning I noticed the left hand side one had a droplet of oil on the back of it. But I also noticed a droplet of oil on the rear left hand side PCV hose.

Either way, as you can imagine I'm annoyed. I don't want to have to remove the plenum again. I'm not sure if it is possible to access the PCV with the battery out or not.

So the car is up on stands again until I find the time to attempt to resolve to leak issue.

    I hear ya....

Great effort Jono, but I totally understand your frustration... Time is always a killer, especially when you have kids :)

In the past, I did most of the big jobs myself. This was before kids. Now, I just take it my mechanic and get them to do it. It costs more, but I have the car back in a couple of days and if anything is wrong, I can take it back and they have to sort it out.... Free weekends to work on cars, just doesn't happen anymore.

I had planned to do a plenum pull later this year. I have all the parts sitting in a box in the garage (new injectors, connectors, hoses etc etc). But i'm just going to wait till I have a reason to do the plenum pull and just get my mechanic to do it all.

    Nice work.

On a side note, someone posted your zed on instagram the other day. It was the front on shot without the front bar on while in your garage.
