Sorry guys, I really wanted to make this but I've developed a bit of a rattle somewhere and I think there's an alternator bearing thats on it's way out, so I'm gunna have to bail on this and spend some time doing the 100k service and what not. Next time though, have fun!!

With Sunday's weather looking crappy, is it worth considering rescheduling?
(NOTE - Vested interest, can't do this weekend :()

pretty sure april is already a bit late since GOR is usually feb/mar. rescheduling again for may is too much IMO.

we should just accept the fact the weather insists on working against us this year and just do it anyway.

Wont happen.... we're allready too late in the year to push it further into winter. Should the weather be too bad I'll still be going along the route regardless, it was postponed last time ONLY because of the dangerous road condition brought on by the oil on some sections of the GOR.

Obviously the GOR needs to be shifted much closer to January / Febuary to get the better weather, I intend to open a discussion on the date after this years run, so start thinking of a date we can set for a perminate date for the run.

    Final update:

Coll will as usual lead the group down from the meetup point at the Todd Rd servo and the departure time will be 8:00am

I'll join in the main convoy mid way along the Melbourne / Geelong Rd and we'll head on to the large BP servo near Avalon Air field for a refuel. This refueling point will give everyone enough fuel for the run and saves time lost in Torquay looking for an alternative fuel depot since the closure of the "traditional fill up station"
NB: Access to high octane fuel past Geelong is extreamly limited and time spent refueling at one of these servos could cause you to fall well behind the main group.

I'll be on the GOR road later today ( trying out some new rubber:D) and I'll report back tonight about the road conditions. I did drive some of the road on Friday (yesterday) and although it was quite wet in some areas traction was better than I expected.

Weather here at the moment is windy and cool, we havent had any rain since the ANZAC dawn service. The sun is comming through broken cloud coverage about every 5 ~ 10 mins. Roads are dry and clear of vegitation debris.... the turbo scream is wicked in the cool air temps
    :D

Kingy are you still planning on a stop at point danger or are you by-passing torquay all together? If so probably worth taking old anglesea rd & i'll just tag on as you pass through anglesea.

    cheers, Tim

Since I'll be in Geelong at this time I'll meet you at Point Danger as well. Probably won't be coming on the cruise, have a lunch to go to, but I'll try to get out of it.

same here, weather is looking pretty shocking and big tyres mean aquaplaning.

Interesting drive this arvo.... roads actually quite good weather considering :D

I ran my new 275 wide tyres for a test run and found they were a tad wideish although the aqua planeing wasnt an issue the grip level was, ducked back home and dropped on a set of wide 245's( actually measure out at 255 mm) and went back down the same roads, grip level was much better especially after I dropped the pressures back to 30psi

other than the cold wind and rain I have no problems with any safety issues for the run, its just going to be a miserable day thats best spent in the ZX with the heater on
    :D

Catch all the "real men" in the morning...... I'll be the one in the thermal underwear

    :D

Or, in the Z with a dead heater core & a beanie :p

I don't mind this weather honestly, makes for some good photos (hides the dirtiness if raining too, phewww) & compliments the HID's :D;)

The 275's would look mean

Ah while you suckers are freezing your arses off at point danger, i'll be tucked up snug as a bug in a rug, with a nice warm cup o' hot chocolate, watching Anchorman for the 74th time. Ahh... ;)

I'm sorry, but almost a 1000km round trip isn't my cup of tea on a shitty cold, windy day.
