I think we set a record today for the smallest ever turnout to an annual Zed cruise, yay us!! 4 Zeds containing 5 people, namely - RENZED & R31Gagz, ADAMZX, Bullus, me. We met up at Gisborne and headed off to Mt Macedon where we were priviliged to hear a very young fitness instructor giving a motivational talk to a bunch of sweating folk who'd just power-hiked up the mountain. Stirling stuff. ( not sure which was bigger - his quads, biceps, attitude or teenage pimples...) Then we hoofed it to Castlemaine to get in some time at Rod Hadfield's museum. Rod kindly fitted us in even though he had organised other stuff for the arvo after I'd told him that the cruise was way downsized and might not even happen. Then Adam headed home and the rest of us headed to Bendigo on a whim ( mine ) to watch a band rehearse. Yep, random. Thanks guys for coming along, I actually enjoyed myself more than on other Goldfields cruises because there was none of the stress of keeping it on time or worrying about anyone getting lost or damaged. It's always a pleasure to hang with Renee & Craig plus I got to know Adam & Andrew better, top dudes both
Happy for you that you had a top time, Mick ...... sounds to be a good cruise. Sad about the attendance numbers, though.
Sorry i couldn't make it Mick! ended up being super busy between work and other commitments sounds like it was a good day!
Thanks for organising this Mick Although it didn't have the thrill of several zeds following each other, I still enjoyed our small convoy Was good to hear your boys in their band, they are gonna be amazing
After an initial postponement for this cruise earlier in the month the rescheduled date had finally come around and I was eager to take the Z out after missing the last cruise due to injuring my thumb the day before. I arrived at the Todd Rd Shell Servo just before 9 am and for the first time since I had been attending Z cruises, I found myself being the first Z to arrive at the meet point. Before I knew it 2 more Z's arrived and they were MikeZ32 and Bullus. I was a bit surprised to not see a flood of Zeds arriving in a pack with most cruises but the weather so far this morning was cold and wet, which didn't help encourage members to come today. Before 9:30 am hit, Alex and Dean arrived to meet and greet Mike, Bullus and myself. By 9:30am myself and Andrew (Bullus) were wondering how we were going to get to the Gisborne meet point, as neither of us have had to lead the Melbourne crew for this cruise before. Having done a few cruises myself, I was happy look up the location in my malways and by 9:40 Andrew and myself headed off hoping to reach the Gisborne meet point in time. When we arrived at Gisborne, we found only 2 Z's waiting for us. I was a little disappointing for Mick's as the small turnout can dampen a cruise directors spirits a bit. But Mick and Renee both stated they were just happy to be able to cruise in the Z's again after such a long time between cruises. With the cold weather chilling us to the bone, we decided to head off to the first cruise destination which was Mt Macedon. When we arrived at Mt Macedon and parked in a small corner of the car park and while Andrew, Mick, Renee and Craig headed off to the summit of Mt Macedon, I stayed behind to try and experiment with my camera and get some nice shots of the group. When everyone returned from the summit, we quickly got back in our Z's and headed to Castlemaine, the cold weather was making it hard to stay outdoors too long before we all started to freeze and we needed to be at the Hot Rod museum so Rod could fit us in for the museum tour before 1 pm, as he had plans to do something after we left. When we arrived at the Hot Rod Museum, the sun was shining and the weather had warmed up which the group were glad to see. We took some quick snaps of the Z pack before we headed into the Museum. Nothing much as changed since our last visit to the museum last year but I was still amazed to see these awesome machines like the silver bullet and so forth. Unfortunately I had to leave midway through the museum visit as my brother inlaw was going into surgery for his hand today and I had a long drive to get to Epping to hospital where he was. So I said goodbye to Mick, Andrew, Rod, Renee and Craig and took this last photo of the Zed pack.
Adam, your Zed is looking spectacular! I like the ?powder-coated plenum. Unfortunately I missed this one because I was already in the 'Goldfields' (St Arnaud) for my mothers' 90th birthday.
