In a possible Drift/drag track probably somewhere between the gold coast and Brisbane, I was toying with the idea of setting the track up for myself in a couple of years, but I have taken the idea to a preliminary investor, who thinks its a good idea, and wants to take the idea to his investors.NOW if it can be seen as a viable market, and profitable, then the investors will go for the idea, and the track will be set up, now the plans will be to have it running full time (not just special days) so it will be operational 7 days a week, it seems like a good idea, but I have to put in lots of research behind it, if its determined NOT to be a profitable idea, then the investors wont go for it.So I would like to gauge intrest, get possible ideas anyone would like to contribute, its not 100% but its a very good possibility if the powers that be like it

    Sounds great Zac :YD

Police operated one here on the GC for a while b4 developers bought the old airstrip - it was well patronised! Getting Govt. support souldn't be a problem as it get's hoons* off the highway!*hoons = non300zx owners!;)

had this idea as well, just a pipe dream really since i have no money or influence:p You should do it Zac, so people don't have to wait for the big tracks to open. I like the idea that if its 7 days a week, you could just knock off after work and get a few laps in to release some stress or go drifting till 10 pm at night. The import/car scene is taking off in a big way and if you set up some tracks, and make it accessible to the public, you'll make a killing I reckon. Then you can build a track down in NSW! And let me manage it! And I'll become rich, richer then i've ever imagined....ok maybe not the last part. :p

    Good idea

Sounds good - like the idea of a "drift" track - not for us but I think it would be great. Try to get some grandstands in so that people can come in an watch - it might be good in the future when you hold huge competitions there.Nate

Bloody good idea - I'll put my hand up

to run the place if you need someone to manage it :) The potential is limitless. Colin Brodie could have his workshop next door and any cars that shit themselves could roll the car next door to be repaired. Then beside colin could be a panel beater :) Any help you need I would be only too happy to help out.

    7 days a week...

...Sounds good and I know they wanted to do the same thing for the Kwinana motorplex. Apparently the biggest problem with 7 days per week is that there are govt requirements for staff levels, security, ambulance crews etc. Id probably look at a 4 day per week schedule as more viable otherwise you will find that after the initial buzz of a new drag strip, 7 days will be a little unprofitable. Anyway, sounds great

Seconded too much costs for 7 days a week

but something like friday nights, saturdays and sunday would be good. Keeps week end warriors off the street. Competitions once a month for big turnouts with a little prize money?/freebies from sponsers?.Possibly along those saturday and sunday, one day for drifting one day for drags. You need to make people crave a little for good turn outs. Little sheltered pit areas maybe? High level car parking to get a view of the track followed with a mc donalds so the muzzas can brag and doosh doosh.Oh i almost forgot a 300zx exclusive area.;)

    Yes after some more research

7 days is a little optimistic, I am thinking, thursday, friday, saturday, sunday, of course I have to do lots of research yet, then draw up a business plan, from there its up to the investors to make it happen, or squash it :| Z exclusive area huh? HMmmmmmmmm :-Z

is probably a major cost. Don't know too much about it but just thought that you shouldn't forget that when considering this kind of thing. J.

It would really benifit alot of parties by having a dedicated track for the likes of drifting and drags. I think it would be great idea to have tech days, show n shines, sound offs, dyno days, driver ed, etc.. it would help 3rd party business to show off their products and services, give people the chance to go and see other cars and watch the compitition on the track!, (i wouldnt mind seeing a few head to heads ie. UA's 300z vs WYKKED amoung others:YD Somewhere legal to fang around.I think a major issue would be traffic to the site depending where it is i guess. Having between Brisbane and the Gold Coast is an ideal location because its a great highway there most of the time but i think u would need to look at the access to the track itself. An ideal locale would be right on the highway more like Calder Park, Sandown and Queensland Raceway to some extent. Otherwise 10,000 people trying to use and access the same facitly from the same direction will be a big problem. Alot of cars dont do to well in traffic!Besides it would suit me just nicely as i live in Mount Warren..:YD :YD
