I'm sure you have a lot of support in your area and some boys that are willing to come and help you through this...

    Sean Buddy,

Selling at $8000 *is* an insult.

Shit, I'm still waiting for the "fix etaf's car" thread so I can work out when to haul ass to QLD and fix the bleedin thing. Hell I'll even try organise a beer wench for the crew as well <cough> Haylz <cough> :D

I'm not going to call you a wanker, but get your hand off it and suss some turbo's out so we can get you rolling again.

After that, if you sell it, your decision, but not for $8000. The market's shit without you contributing to it as well.

    hmmmm

i think Sean feel like me right now ...

sick of spending so much money on a car
just think if u bought another car rather than the ZX, u could have $90K more right now on ur bank account, haha.

price of a BENZ, GTR R34, NSX, RX8, etc ... haha just kiddin

even if im strugglin to fix my Z, i still want to keep it, cause i love it whenever i drive it.

good luck with the sale tho.

btw, did u check how much ur insurance give u just in case if ur car is stolen or burnt? :p

    *sigh*...

I'm at the point that I keep thinking about all the money that I have spent, and although to you and even I it sounds like just 2-4 grand away... It's 2-4 grand that I can't see me getting back on the resale.

Every morning I wake up and consider the option of repairing... AGAIN!

I'm so close and yet so distant...

In this case... the money is the biggest issue. I'm in no immediate hurry, but seeing her sitting there looking at me, begging me to fix her and drive her again...

I can just see more speeding fines, It's so easy to put the foot down in that car!

    *sigh*

    nowhere close...

    Unfortunately...

4 weeks from today i'd have paid off my Heritage loan completely and then the savings can begin....

$200 a week... Just wont be enough.

Trust me when I say that the thought goes through my mind every day. But the economical outcome is that the cost of Fuel alone would double... the cost of services will double.

The overall expenses of the Zed just aren't worth it to ME anymore...

Debt free, $30 a week on fuel and in a car that doesn't call Mr Plod to my attention every 5 minutes of the day... now thats what I'm dreaming of.

Instead of some Red Zed that goes and sounds like a Ferrari begging for Mr Plod and his buddies to inspect it... Young driver, Big Exhaust, Personalised Plates... thats the perfect mix for mayhem...

What would you rather have? A cool car and no license or a debt free life with a license??

    Choice is easy

Sean, no one is ever debt free and its over rated.
Yes you can have a cool car and a license. Learn to obey the road rules, its character building but having said that find a section of private rd that only YOU know about where you can love your zed your way.
Stick the car where you cant see it.
Take up the offer of the second hand turbos or save for new stock ones.
You have been offered assistance by members which shoudnt be treated lightly.
Yes you have spent alot of money so why waste it. We have to spend our money on something and i just dont see you driving a normal car. Its not the car that speeds its the driver so play by the rules and stay a member Sean.
What other HITMAN would drive a zed.
    Cheers and stay with us.

RedZedMikey RZM should now be DZM

Fatey boy, I have to say that I am both for you and agin you in this matter, but Bruce's post above sums it up pretty well I think. At times I think if Sean wants out, then let him go and let it be - don't go pushing Sean into staying in a place where he no longer wants to be.

But then I see your most recent post here and can't see Sean being happy in his new dream - I wouldn't be. I love fast cars, horsepower and all the stuff that goes with that, always have, and I think you do too. 25 years ago I was in your shoes, and did exactly what you are contemplating now. I sold off my 2 Italian money pits, both Fiat 124 Sports, and bought a Sigma automatic. The day I got that car home I wanted to sell it. I wasn't happy with what I was driving for 2 years - then I said bugger it, bought a new Cordia Turbo, and I was happy as Larry again. My interests changed, I was weaned off Fiats - but whenever we share a track day with the Fiat Car Club, the fond memories come flooding back, and I wonder if there's room for a Fiat Spyder in the bank account. (No, there's not, at the moment.)

A degree of moderation in what you do and how you drive can go a long way. You don't need a loud exhaust with big fat quad pipes - something more subtle will do the trick just as well. Driven reasonably, my TT Zed has proven it uses just about the same amount of fuel as my daily driver Magna. I no longer drive like the hoon I used to be (well, almost ...), getting involved in the odd track day, drag day etc has curbed that. Can't say I'm debt free, but I have a clean licence, zero points, no tickets for over 4 years - and most of my driving in that time has been in the TT. Such a great car to drive, even at normal speeds ....

Moderation is the answer - and you seem to be swinging too far to the conservative extreme to be the real you!

To some extent I've been in your seat this year. I've been through some Z purgatory this year that so far has been kept off forum; and it will stay that way until I'm ready to tell. However, if necessary, I'll keep RZ2 sitting around until I'm ready to resolve its issues. Sure, I don't like the fact that I have hardly driven a Zed since Feb this year, but that will simply make it all the sweeter when things are right again.

If you are still convinced that you want to move your baby on, then so be it - and good luck to you - but think about whether the real Fate Mafia boy will be happy as a permanent Clark Kent.

    Cheers and chin up, Mikey.

Also Sean, I'm going to add:-

Over the time you have had your car, you have sought advice from the members here, and seldom taken that advice, and with regrets that you didn't after the fact.
Whilst no one can tell you what to do, please heed the advice of your friends here this time ;)
We have your best interested at heart :D

At the end of the day, if he wants to sell

let him sell. I agree with what he's said, if he spends this money to get it back in shape, then he is not going to get any more for the car when he goes to sell it, so why spend it.
Its just a waste of money for him.

The Z market is so tight at the moment that even if he did spend the money to fix it, it may take him ages to sell.

My advice Sean, if you were thinking of selling down the track anyway, then go ahead with your original plan. No use in spending up to 3K if you are only going to get the 3k back.
If you really want to keep it, then take up the generous offers on the table.

Good luck with it mate and if you still haven't sold soon, let me know, I may take it off your hands.(even though it IS a 2 seater :( )

    Todays Theory...

Well... I've gotten a bit more support from the rentals (the parents) and they have suggested I put the car down the side of the house for a little while until I can afford to work on it.

I'm going to make some enquiries over the next couple of days towards the paintjob first of all...

And then I may assess the possibility of fitting a pair of stock turbo's again... This isn't a guaranteed thing at this stage but more of a possibility that i'm looking into.

    :)

    F**K the paint!

You cant see it from the drivers seat.

Get the engine replaced, theres plenty of front cuts avail. That way you get your bits and sell the rest to get your $ back. Theres always demand for the nose cut bits.

Its very suss that youve done so many turbos, Id be wondering why, like poor oil pressure, poor coolant supply or whatever.

Can I just say JI was gonna sell after id crashed. Instead members here turned me around and I just got on with it and got it done DIY style. The hardest part is starting. I ended up finishing under budget and made many improvements and great discoveries along the way.
I now have my car, and enjoy it more every time I drive it.

    Paint idea OUT THE WINDOW!!!!

Budget doesn't allow for the paint job.

This isn't about the way I feel about the car or how I feel while driving it... I have a story to tell about EVERY time I drove her...

I miss telling the stories and the excitement she gave me without a doubt. But the problem is that you can only spend so much money on something before it comes to an end.

Financially FOR ME... this car is uneconomical.

I haven't given up 100% on repairing her, but as long as my financial situation is in the mess it is at the moment. I wont be happy.

The idea of letting the car sit for a while longer crosses my mind as well. but i'm sure someone out there wants a TT for the RIGHT price...

    THIS IS IT!
