Hey guys, i was thinking of upgrading my ausspec's (2+2 na) whole system but i'm unsure of which brand, diameter, and parts to get for improved performance and note

    i was thinking
    stillen headers
one of these maganflow exhausts http://www.aus300zx.com/forum/showthread.php?p=1053042#post1053042
some sort of new cat - maybe one of these http://www.aus300zx.com/forum/showthread.php?t=300893
and i have no idea about the other bits

so i'd be interested in hearing what you guys reckon is best for the performance and note of my na

oh and i wanna keep the 4 tip look that the stock exhaust has, which is why i'm thinking the maganflow exhaust

    thanks guys :zlove:

If you want headers you should grab Russ' TTZ header. Other headers are all LHDs including the Stillen one and will require modification to fit.
As for diameter go for some 2.5" mandrel bent piping, an x-pipe, and maybe get some 200cpsi cats to stay on the more legal side... I'm waiting for my magnaflows from the GB, should be good :D

    TTZ Headers
    2.5 inch Front Pipes
    High FLow Cats
    UAS X-Pipe
    2.5inch Mandrel Bent Piping
    Magnaflow Rear Mufflers

Zedboy had the same setup on his NA Aus Spec and it's the best sounding Zed ive ever heard

Ive got the catback with the UAS X-Pipe and the Magnaflows and the Mandrel bent piping on, and ive got the TTZ headers waiting to go on, cant wait :)

personally i wouldnt waste all your money on all this exhaust upgrades expecting a big power gain

headers at a cost of 500 to buy and another 500 to install is blowing your money ,just go get a dynotune and a chip and youll see better gains for 1k

magnaflows are great-you can take them with you
    x-pipe - also great,take that as well

as far as mandrel bent system, high flow cats and headers, its all a wank on an n/a:rolleyes:

buy stuff you can take with you when you decide to upgrade to a t/t (underdrive pulley, wheels bling ,stereo etc)

Just make it pretty,do a suspension and brake upgrade, drive the car and enjoy it,

When you decide its not fast enough for you and youre sick of fat chicks :rofl: -as just about everyone does, then upgrade to a t/t and be happy all your hard earned cash isnt going to the next buyer when you sell ;)

the stock headers are hugely restrictive over 4000rpm and I noticed a big difference after fitting the ttz headers, the engine pulls all the way upto the redline. and you can fit them yourself and save the $500 labour. might not be a huge power increase but a very noticeable increase in low end torque which makes the car much nicer to drive.

What Mikey said magnaflows and UAS x-pipe are a must. My magnaflows are the twin 3.5" tips #14805's IMO they do have the best sound with looks to match.

TTZ headers didn't effect the exhaust note all that much, more of a performance increase.

And you can just go a Magnaflow x pipe mufler rather than a UAS one, nearly half the price and practically identical ;) Mine works just great :D

    I've got:
    TTZ headers
    Magnaflow cats
    UAS X pipe
    Magnaflow mufflers

All with 2.5" piping between. My ENTIRE exhaust install cost $650, so I'm guessing the headers were about $300 - $400

yup, headers dont give a large "total horsepower" increase but does increase the power and torque in what is called the area "under the curve" which means youve got more go in the middle of the rev range, not just at the very top of the revs were the car doesnt spend much time really

its not really a waste cause it will make my car sound better and the power increase is there.

Basically, i think that if i'm gonna do something to the z, do it all and do it right the first time lol

I'm 17 so i got a while before i can go tt and even longer before i can afford to :p

underdrive pulley will come later, wheels can come later, all the stereo setup is missing is a sub, but i'll do that this year.... and i still need a boot to use, so it will be a low profile

Dont worry about it, most NA drivers are in the same or similar boat as you, i haven't got long till my fulls but that doesn't mean ill be able to afford a TT soon either. Just go for it, ill be doing my exhaust soonish as well but just a catback.

thanks for the info guys, this'll come in handy heaps when i'm thinking about what bits to get for exhaust

i'm mainly asking now cause i know that sometimes its hard to get a hold of zx bits..... like my 2k front and driving lights lol

i'm planning on doing this straight after hsc finishes, but getting all the bits i need before so i can do all of it straight away after i finish
